The game between third ranked Elitzur Yavne (6-3) and twelfth ranked Maccabi K/G (3-6) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Elitzur Yavne was defeated by Maccabi K/G in Yavne 89-74. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Maccabi K/G's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-17 extending their advantage to 15 points. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Elitzur Yavne helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) who scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Hapoel Afula (7-2) beat at home 8th ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (4-5) 86-76 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Afula. Hapoel Kfar Saba managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Afula forced 19 Hapoel Kfar Saba turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 22 rebounds for the winners and swingman Elad Eliyah (193-85) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The best for the losing side was American forward Adam Constantine (206-88, college: Elon) with 20 points and 9 rebounds and forward Eitan Rotemberg (197-91) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Hapoel Afula. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Hod Hasharon. Loser Hapoel Kfar Saba keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Hapoel Afula will meet at home bottom-ranked Maccabi Kiryat Bialik (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hapoel Kfar Saba will play against the league's leader Ironi Nes-Ziona (#1) in Nes Ziyona and hope to secure a win.
