Shields
American shooting guard Ashley Shields (180-SG-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Maccabi Ashdod, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass Hap.Petah Tikva (#4, 3-3) with 35-point margin 114-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Maccabi Ashdod to consolidate first place in the Israeli D1. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Maccabi Ashdod keeps perfect 7 -0 record. In the team's last game Shields had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Maccabi Ashdod and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Former SW Tennessee State CC star has very solid stats this year. Shields is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.7ppg), assists (2nd best: 5.7apg) and averages impressive 3.8spg and 65.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Maccabi Ashdod's star - 26-year old American Charde Houston (185-F-86, agency: LBM Management). Houston had a very good evening with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course together with Shields she helped Maccabi Ashdod with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (#4, 3-3) 114-79. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Maccabi Ashdod consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. She plays for the best team in the league and Maccabi Ashdod managed to win all 7 games keeping perfect record. Houston is a newcomer at Maccabi Ashdod, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.5ppg (#6). She also registered 7.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Adaora Elonu (185-F-90, agency: Ronsport) of league's second-best Galil Elion. Elonu got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. She went also for eleven rebounds . She was a key player of Galil Elion, leading her team to a 84-75 win against the lower-ranked Maccabi R.Hen (#5, 3-3). Galil Elion needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Elonu has a great season in Israel. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.0ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 8.3rpg (9th best).
