24-year old forward Derrick Caracter (206-F-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for Bnei Hasharon and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10.
He had a double-double of 26 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat Hapoel Eilat (#2, 7-3) 83-77. Bnei Hasharon is placed at 9th position in Israeli league. Bnei Hasharon is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-6 record. Caracter turned to be Bnei Hasharon's top player in his first season with the team. Derrick Caracter averages just after three games 14.3ppg and 9.3rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Julian Wright (203-F-87) of Maccabi Rishon. He is American forward in his first season at Maccabi Rishon. In the last game Wright recorded impressive double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Maccabi Rishon lost that game 75-84 to the lower-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#12, 2-8). Maccabi Rishon managed to keep the same 7th spot in Round 6. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 5-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Wright is a newcomer at Maccabi Rishon and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.9ppg (#9). He also registered 9.7 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Pat Calathes (208-G/F-85) of Maccabi Haifa (#3). Calathes scored 27 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Maccabi Haifa, leading his team to a 111-94 easy win against the lower-ranked Elizur Ashkelon (#8, 4-6). Maccabi Haifa needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in . Their record at this point is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Calathes has a great season in Israel. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.6rpg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Diamon Simpson (201-F-87) of Maccabi Ashdod - 19 points and 13 rebounds
5. Julien Mills (193-G/F-85) of Elizur Ashkelon - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Marcus Moore (198-G-80) of Elizur Ashkelon - 22 points and 8 rebounds
7. Lawrence Hill (203-F-87) of Hapoel Holon - 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Lior Eliyahu (206-SF-85) of Maccabi T-A - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Malcolm Thomas (206-C-88) of Maccabi T-A - 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Eli Holman (208-F/C-89) of Hapoel Eilat - 11 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Omri Casspi Suffers Broken Thumb - 5 hours ago
Omri Casspi (6'9''-SF-88) broke his right thumb tonight in his first game with the Pelicans since Monday's trade, tweets Justin Verrier of ESPN.com. Doctors are projecting that the injury will sideline him for four to six weeks. Casspi was sent from Sacramento to New Orleans along with DeMarcus Cousins (6'11''-C/F-90, college: Kentucky) in a five-player deal. His injury capped an overall bad night for the Pelicans, who suffered a 30-point loss to Houston in front of a sold-out Smoothie Ki...   [read more]
