Karima
Christmas
American Karima Christmas (182-G/F-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for Maccabi R.Hen and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 23-year old swingman had a double-double of 20 points and sixteen rebounds, while her team edged out Ramat Hasharon (#4, 6-5) 65-63. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Maccabi R.Hen is placed at 3rd position in Israeli D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Maccabi R.Hen will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. Christmas turned to be Maccabi R.Hen's top player in her first season with the team. Duke University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Christmas is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 9.6rpg) and averages solid 2.4spg and 51.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 22-year old American forward Adaora Elonu (185-F-90, agency: Ronsport) of Galil Elion. Elonu impressed basketball fans with 35 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course Galil Elion cruised to a 101-93 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Elitzur Netanya (#8, 3-7). This victory allowed Galil Elion to move up to 5th position in the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-6 record. Elonu is a newcomer at Galil Elion and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.3ppg (#4). She also registered 8.1 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Jamaican Vanessa Gidden (193-C/F-85, agency: Ronsport) of Hap.Petah Tikva (#6). Gidden scored 20 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Hap.Petah Tikva, leading her team to a 75-66 win against the higher-ranked Elitzur Ramla (#2, 7-4). The chances of Hap.Petah Tikva not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 7 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Gidden could try to bring Hap.Petah Tikva's a little bit higher in the standings. Gidden has individually a great season in Israel. After 11 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.5rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Alexis Gray-Lawson (173-PG-87) of Ramat Hasharon - 23 points and 4 rebounds
5. Rebekah Gardner (185-G-90) of Hap.Petah Tikva - 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Allison Hightower (178-G-88) of Elitzur Ramla - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Christine Flores (190-F-90) of Galil Elion - 21 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Charde Houston (185-F-86) of Maccabi Ashdod - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Sydney Carter (167-PG-90) of Galil Elion - 13 points, 4 rebounds and 13 assists
10. Kaili McLaren (188-F-88) of Ramat Hasharon - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
