Here is the weekly review of the top performing Israeli players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Yuval Naimy (188-85, currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Russia. He could not help Triumph Lyubertsy (4-6) to beat VEF Riga (7-3). Naimy recorded 7 points and added 5 passes in 27 minutes on the court. The seventh-placed Triumph Lyubertsy was edged 80-78 on the road by the higher-ranked (#3) VEF Riga in the group B of VTB United League. It's Naimy's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 10.2ppg, 2.0rpg, 2.9apg, 3FGP: 45.7%(21-46) and FT: 53.8% in the 10 games he played so far. Naimy is currently a member of the Israeli senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former U20 international guard Oded Brandwein (186-88, agency: N.E.T., currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish TBL. He was not able to help Energa Czarni (8-7) in their last game. Despite Brandwein's good performance Energa Czarni lost 81-85 at home to the lower-ranked (#8) Polpharma. He scored 11 points and added 3 assists in 25 minutes. It was Energa Czarni's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Brandwein averages: 8.7ppg, 2.9apg, 2FGP: 41.5%, 3FGP: 41.9% and FT: 81.6% in the 12 games. He has a dual citizenship: Israeli and Polish. Former Elitzur Yavne starter played for the Israeli U20 national team in 2008.

   #3. The Israeli player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Omri Casspi (204-88, currently plays in NBA). Casspi managed to help Cleveland Cavaliers to win against the Atlanta Hawks (20-14) 99-83 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. He recorded 5 points. The Cleveland Cavaliers have rather weak 9-28 record this season. Casspi's overall stats this year are: 4.9ppg, 2.3rpg, 2FGP: 34.9%, 3FGP: 40.8% and FT: 52.0%. He is also a member of the Israeli senior national team.

Center Robert Rothbart (217-86, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group, currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish TBL was not able to secure a victory for Start Gdynia (4-11) in their last game. Despite Rothbart's good performance Start Gdynia lost 63-68 in Koszalin to the higher-ranked (#5) AZS Koszalin. He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Rothbart also added 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. It was Start Gdynia's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Rothbart has relatively solid stats: 12.7ppg and 7.0rpg in the 14 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Israeli. Rothbart is also Israeli national team player.

International center Alex Tyus (205-88, college: Florida, currently plays in Italy) contributed to Cantu's victory against the closely-ranked Armani Milano (7-7) 84-76 in the Italian SerieA on Sunday night. He scored only 2 points. Mapooro Cantu (10-4) is placed fourth in the SerieA. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Tyus' overall stats this season are: 9.9ppg and 4.8rpg. He is a naturalized American. Tyus plays currently for the Israeli national team. He used to play for Maccabi Ashdod in Israeli league.

Shooting guard Yotam Halperin (193-84, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a 2-point Bayern Muenchen's victory against the closely-ranked ratiopharm Ulm (11-6) 80-78 in the German BBL in Saturday night's game. Halperin scored 5 points in 14 minutes. FC Bayern Muenchen (11-6) is placed fourth in the BBL. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. This year Halperin's overall stats are: 6.3ppg, 1.9rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg in the 17 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Israeli National Team roster.

Former U20 international center Jeremiah Kreisberg (208-92, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Yale's surprising victory against the College of Holy Cross 61-54 in the NCAA last Friday. Kreisberg recorded 5 points. The Yale University has conference record this season. Kreisberg's total stats this year are: 6.3ppg, 1.9rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg. He is a naturalized American. Kreisberg used to play for the Israeli U20 national team two years ago. Strangely he has never played in Israel.

Tom Maayan

   #8. Point guard Tom Maayan (185-93, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Seton Hall (1-2) in their game against the University of Notre Dame (2-0) in the NCAA. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Maayan scored only 3 points and added 6 passes. The Seton Hall was badly defeated 93-74 in Notre Dame, IL by the University of Notre Dame. Maayan has reliable stats this season: 11.4ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.4spg. He used to play for the Israeli U18 national team back in 2011.


The list of other players, who all have Israeli passport but never been selected to any of Israeli national teams:

   #1. Jason Thomas (191-G-82, college: American, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan could not help Boras Basket (14-6) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance Boras Basket was defeated 92-81 on the road by the lower-ranked Sodertalje Kings (#4). Thomas was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 8 rebounds. This season Thomas has relatively solid stats: 12.9ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.2apg and 1.2spg. He is a naturalized American. Thomas used to play for Ironi Kfar Hamaccabia Ramat Gan in Israeli league.

   #2. Guy Aud (188-G-89, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Finke Baskets (6-10) in their game against BV Chemnitz 99 (11-0) in the German ProA (second division). He cannot count Monday's game as one of the best ones. Aud recorded only 2 points in 20 minutes. Finke Baskets lost 66-70 at home to the leading BV Chemnitz 99. It was Finke Baskets' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Aud is currently second on the list of best passers with 6.8apg. This year his other stats are: 11.4ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.4spg in the 16 games he played so far. Aud has a dual citizenship: Israeli and German. Worth to mention Aud played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Maccabi T-A (17-7) in Tel-Aviv on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by Hapoel Holon (17-7) 80-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maccabi T-A. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-79. Maccabi - Zalgiris 77:93 Zalgiris celebrated the road win over Maccabi in Tel Aviv to improve at 13-15 record in the ladder. The win though did not help Zalgiris as they got eliminated from the playoff race because of the other results in the day. Edgaras Ulanovas (197-G-92) scored 20 points to pace the winners.
