The most exciting game of round 13 in the D1 took place in Holon. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Maccabi Ramat Hen (6-5) to seventh ranked Elitzur Holon (5-7) 76-75 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maccabi Ramat Hen. Maccabi Ramat Hen was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 29-24 charge of Elitzur Holon, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alexis Hornbuckle (180-85, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Guard Whitney Boddie (173-87, college: Auburn, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for Maccabi Ramat Hen. Elitzur Holon moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Hap.Petah Tikva. Maccabi Ramat Hen at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Elitzur Holon is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (#9) on the road in the next round. Maccabi Ramat Hen will play against the league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Maccabi Ashdod (12-0) which played road game in Ramla against their biggest opponent Elitzur Ramla (7-5). Leader Maccabi Ashdod managed to get a 5-point victory 66-61. American players dominated also this game. Power forward Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Ashley Shields chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side guard Allison Hightower (178-88, college: LSU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 19 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Undefeated Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 12-0 record. Elitzur Ramla at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Elitzur Netanya (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elitzur Ramla will play against Maccabi Ramat Hen (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game in Netanya was also worth to mention about. Sixth ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (5-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Elitzur Netanya (3-8). Hap.Petah Tikva defeated Elitzur Netanya 97-82. Vanessa Gidden fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Hap.Petah Tikva maintains sixth place with 5-7 record, which they share with Elitzur Holon. Elitzur Netanya at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Hap.Petah Tikva's next round opponent will be higher ranked Galil Elion (#5) in Kfar Blum and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Elitzur Netanya will play on the road against the league's leader Maccabi Ashdod.



Ramat Hasharon - H.R. Le-Zion 77-81

Bottom-ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses on Thursday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Ramat Hasharon 81-77. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 23-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American center Jessica Lawson (191-86, college: S.Florida) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import point guard Shey Peddy (170-88, college: Temple) accounted for 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized American forward Alysha Clark (178-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Laine Selwyn (172-81, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Data Plus Group) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for Ramat Hasharon in the defeat.
