Kavala opened their Balkan League second stage campaign with victory. They upset Galil Gilboa on the road to improve at 3-2 record. Nemanja Mitrovic (197-G-90, college: Portland) paced well-balanced effort from Kavala with 12 points.
It was a roller-coaster action from start to finish. Kavala got to an early lead. The Greek side eked out a 24:19 advantage ten minutes into the game. Galil Gilboa improved their performance in the second frame. The Israeli team cut the deficit to a single point at halftime 39:40. Kavala extended their lead in the crucial third quarter. The visitors went on a 23:17 run to ensure a 7-point lead before the final quarter. Galil Gilboa managed just 17 points in the fourth term which proved insufficient to rescue the battle. Gregor Arbet (195-G/F-83) provided 11 points, while Igor Milosevic (193-G-86, agency: Beo Basket), Steve Panos (206-C-88, college: Weber St.) and William Coleman (206-F-88, college: Memphis) added 10 points each for the winners. Mitchell Watt (208-F-89, college: Buffalo) answered with 17 points for Galil Gilboa. Rakim Sanders (193-G-89, college: Fairfield) netted 16 points in the losing case.
