Here is the weekly review of the top performing Israeli players, who play currently abroad.

Shay Doron
Shay Doron
#1. This week's number one is an international shooting guard Shay Doron (175-85, college: Maryland, currently plays in Euroleague). She led her Turkish team Tarsus Bld to a victory against the closely-ranked IMOS Brno (2-9) 81-72 in the Euroleague last Wednesday. Doron recorded 14 points. Tarsus Belediyesi (3-8) is placed sixth in group A. Her team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Doron belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #6. She has very reliable stats this season: 12.1ppg, 2.8rpg, 4.9apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 50.8%, 3FGP: 41.7% and FT: 66.7%. Ex-Elitzur Ramla player is currently a member of the Israeli senior national team.

Ekaterina Abramzon
Ekaterina Abramzon
#2. Second place goes to an international forward Ekaterina Abramzon (185-87, currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Liga Nationala. Abramzon could not help one of league's weakest teams Alba Iulia (12-5) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Alba Iulia lost 65-76 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Satu Mare. Abramzon had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds in 37 minutes. They ended the series of eight consecutive victories. This year Abramzon averages: 7.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.9apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 45.1%, 3FGP: 27.7% and FT: 68.4% in the 17 games she played so far. She has a dual citizenship: Russian and Israeli. Ex-Elizur Ramla player is in the roster of the Israeli senior national team.

Liron Cohen
Liron Cohen
#3. The Israeli player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Liron Cohen (173-82, currently plays in Italy). Cohen contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Priolo (4-9) 63-47 in the Italian A1 in Sunday night's game. She scored 6 points and added 6 assists. Goldbet Taranto (9-3) is placed third in the A1. It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Cohen belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #5. This season she has very good stats: 11.5ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 52.3%, 3FGP: 45.8%(27-59) and FT: 75.9%. Cohen is also a member of the Israeli senior national team.

Eloisa Katz
Eloisa Katz
#4. Power forward Eloisa Katz (182-91, currently plays in Canada) contributed to an easy victory against the UQAM (4-9) 60-43 in the Canadian university league CIS last Wednesday. She scored 6 points in 16 minutes. The Bishop's University has 6-4 record this season. This year Katz's overall stats are: 3.7ppg and 3.0rpg in the 10 games. She is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Israeli. Katz used to play for the Israeli U20 national team back in 2011.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Israeli passport:

#1. Experienced Sue Bird (175-PG-80, college: Connecticut, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help UMMC Ekaterinburg in a victory against the fourth-ranked Mondeville (5-6) crushing them 79-58 in the Euroleague in Wednesday night's game. She scored 5 points, had 8 boards, dished 10 assists and stole 3 balls in 34 minutes. UMMC Ekaterinburg (10-1) is placed first in group C. It was her team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Bird's first season with the team. This year Bird averages: 6.0ppg, 8.0rpg, 7.5apg and 1.5spg in the two games she played so far. She is a naturalized American. Strangely Bird has never played in Israel.

Edremit Belediyesi Gurespor (TKBL) added to their roster 23-year old American guard Danaejah Grant (175-94, college: St.John's). She was supposed to play at Ramat Hasharon in Israeli D1 league. In only one game she recorded 6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals this season. D1 Round 12: Hap.Petah Tikva defeat leader Maccabi Ramat Gan - 6 days ago
What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Maccabi Ramat Gan (9-2) in Ramat Hen on Monday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (3-8) 81-79. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Maccabi Ramat Gan. It was a good game for American swingman Crystal Bradford (183-93, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: LBM Management) who le...   [read more]
