Cras Taranto ended impressive season in Italy. They outplayed Familia Schio tonight 72-58 winning the Finals with 3-0. Familia Schio won the A1 title last season, while Taranto did it in 2009 and 2010. Taranto also outplayed Familia Schio in the Cup Finals earlier this season, 78-57. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-58. Taranto outrebounded Familia Schio 42-21 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international guard Giorgia Sottana (177-88) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points. French center Elodie Godin (190-85) helped adding 9 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Israeli guard Liron Cohen (173-82) with 10 points and the former international forward Raffaella Masciadri (185-80) scored 17 points. Taranto was the regular season champion with 20-2 record. They eliminated Bracco Geas in the Quarterfinals with 2-0. Later Taranto had to work very hard to eliminate Lucca in the Semis, 3-2. . SCHIO After Saturday win against Sesto San Giovanni in semis (69-52), visitor Cras Taranto topped Schio at PalaCampagnola winning the Italian Cup for the second time in history. Crucial to the success of the Ionic squad was a 16-2 break across second and third quarter, mostly packed by a sumptuous Giorgia Sottana (17 points in 28 'with 6/13 from the field, 3/4 behind the arc, 2/2 from the foul line, 2 recoveries and 4 assists), unanimously voted MVP of the finals.
The Famila after Saturday win against Umbertide in semis (59-49), while driven by the heat of his home crowd, pulled badly by 3 points (3/16) and overall from the field (22/61), despite a big effort by Cheryl Ford (17 points and 14 rebounds) .
Taranto was able to dismiss the attempted comeback of Schio in the third quarter (from -23 to -10 with a flash of Macchi and Masciadri) showing large organization in both endings and finding in Giauro (10 points in 23 'and 4/5 from 2), Vaughn (17 and 8 rebounds in 21 ') and Mahoney (12 points and 7 rebounds) the highlights of a game almost perfect in terms of tactical and mental intensity.
The individual awards went to Kia Vaughn, best scorer of the Final Four (17 points in the semifinals and 15 in the final), which received a voucher for a one-week-all-inclusive holiday in Sri Lanka, and Giorgia Sottana (MVP).

All Star Selections edged National Team in Parma. The St.Valentines Day was a great addition to All Star Game in the country. Kia Vaughn (193-C-87, college: Rutgers) was named MVP of the winning side. Raffaella Masciadri (185-F-80) was awarded MVP of the National team. All Star Selections started with 14-10, but Italy bounced back in the second quarter. They grabbed 34:31 at the halftime and led even after three quarters 44:43. The last stanza however belonged to the foreign players that won the game. Kia Vaughn top-scored for the winners with 17 points and Kelly Mazzante (183-G-82, college: Penn St.) notched 11. Latara Darrett (178-G-88, college: Prairie View A&M), Willis and Eric netted 8 points each. Raffaella Masciadri replied with 20 points in the losing effort. Giorgia Sottana (177-G-88) scored 8, while Nadalin added 7.
Familia Wuber Schio wins its third Italian Super Cup beating Liomatic Umbertide 67-49. The game was not that easy for both teams. The gap between thew two teams only came in the last minutes of the game. The best player on the floor was Clare Pastore, who received an MVP trophy of the Super Cup tournament.
