Fifth ranked Lucca won an overtime thriller edging much higher ranked Familia Schio by one point 81-80 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Familia Schio. It was a great evening for Courtney Willis (188-F/C-82, agency: LBM Management, college: E.Carolina) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points and 6 rebounds. Lucca (12-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Umbertide. Familia Schio at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Lucca will face higher ranked Comense (#3) in Como in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Familia Schio will play at home against Umbertide and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 19 Alcamo lost to Pozzuoli on the opponent's court 71-76. Priolo lost to defending champion Taranto in a home game 57-74. Faenza was rolled over Umbertide on the road 46-76. Bracco Geas crushed Cagliari CUS on its own court 66-43. Comense beat Basket Parma in Como 72-57.


Pozzuoli - Alcamo 76-71
Rather expected game when 11th ranked Alcamo (3-16) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Pall.Pozzuoli (7-12) 76-71 on Sunday. Alcamo trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 23-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-76 at the end of the game. Pall.Pozzuoli had a 37-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Kelly Mazzante (183-82, college: Penn St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized American guard Angela Zampella (170-78, college: St.Joseph's) helped adding 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Pall.Pozzuoli players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Nicole Michael (188-87, college: Syracuse) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Romanian forward Simina Mandache (185-81) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Pall.Pozzuoli maintains ninth place with 7-12 record. Alcamo at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Pall.Pozzuoli will face higher ranked CA Faenza (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alcamo will play against the league's leader Taranto (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Priolo - Taranto 57-74
Very predictable result when first ranked Taranto (17-2) defeated on the road 10th ranked Priolo (5-14) 74-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Taranto. Priolo was better in fourth quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Priolo 42-26 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Taranto especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a great evening for the former international guard Giorgia Sottana (177-88) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points. Romanian center Florina Pascalau (193-82) helped adding 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Taranto players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian swingman Tanja Cirov (181-81) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Belgian swingman Romina Ciappina (180-88) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Taranto have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-2 record. Priolo at the other side keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Taranto will face Alcamo (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Priolo will play against Cagliari CUS and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Familia Schio used huge pressure winning it 23-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 18-19. Lucca forced 22 Familia Schio turnovers. It was a great evening for American power forward Courtney Willis (188-82, college: E.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points and 6 rebounds. Portuguese forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU) helped adding 26 points and 8 rebounds. Umbertide led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CA Faenza to just 6 points in third quarter. Umbertide dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to CA Faenza's 32. Umbertide forced 19 CA Faenza turnovers. It was a great evening for American power forward Nicole Ohlde (193-82, college: Kansas St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Sabrina Cinili (190-89) helped adding 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side Dutch power forward Naomi Halman (191-86, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Demauria Liles (185-88, college: Maryland) scored 5 points and 7 rebounds.
