The Regular Season in A2 is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 4 rounds. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

Top ranked Ragusa (18-4) recorded its fourth loss on the court of second ranked T. La Spezia on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by T. La Spezia 76-62. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Ragusa. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in South. The game was mostly controlled by T. La Spezia. Ragusa managed to win fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. T. La Spezia forced 27 Ragusa turnovers. The former international forward Monica Bonafede (186-F-85) fired 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. German power forward Petra Glaser (196-F/C-81, college: Long Beach St.) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Mozambican center Clarisse Machanguana (194-73, college: ODU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. T. La Spezia (17-3) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position in South having 2 victories less than leader Bologna. Ragusa at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. T. La Spezia are looking forward to face Ancona (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Ragusa will play against Consum.it Siena (#11) and is hoping to win this game.

Rest of the games of round 22 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
In North Milano was crushed by Cervia in a road game 56-37. Bolzano was beaten by Vigarano at home 50-63. Borgotaro lost to San Martino on the opponent's court 45-50. Biassono was outscored by Vigarano in a home game 45-74. Cagliari V. recorded a loss to Muggia on the road 57-39. Marghera defeated O.G. Collegno on its own court 69-60. Borgotaro beat Cervia in a road game 54-49. Bologna won against Milano at home 55-47. San Martino managed to outperform Bolzano on the opponent's court 52-46. Alghero managed to beat Udine in a home game 69-64.
In South Napoli BK was defeated by T. La Spezia on the road 66-55. S.E.Battipaglia beat Viterbo on its own court 63-48. S. La Spezia lost to Orvieto in a road game 45-58. Pomezia unfortunately lost to Chieti at home 58-66. S.E.Battipaglia was rolled over Orvieto on the opponent's court 49-81. Pomezia was defeated by Ancona in a home game 55-62. Viterbo was beaten by Battipaglia on the road 65-57. Chieti won against Napoli S.Dike on its own court 48-40. Siena managed to outperform Firenze in a road game 64-48. Napoli BK recorded a loss to S. La Spezia at home 44-48.
The best stats of 22th round was 20 points and 13 rebounds by Eleonora Laffi of Vigarano.


Group North
Cervia - Milano 56-37

There was an upset when higher ranked Milano (14-8) was crushed on the road by tenth ranked Terme di Cervia (7-14) 56-37 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 56-37. Terme di Cervia dominated on the defensive end, holding Milano to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They held Milano to an opponent 21.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Milano 39-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Guard Elisa Bonaldo (170-81) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Giulia Bona (186-94) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. Terme di Cervia's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Ntumba Madelene Mitongu (180-81) produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and Swedish center Jenny Lidgren (191-88) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Terme di Cervia maintains tenth position in North with 7-14 record. Loser Milano keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Terme di Cervia will face higher ranked Bolzano (#9) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Milano will play against Marghera (#6) in Venezia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
