Italian National Team victoriously opened their Belgrade international tournament campaign. They overcame Israel in the opener. Giulia Gatti (172-G-89, agency: LBM Management) and Giorgia Sottana (177-G-88) scored 13 points each to lead the winners. Israel enjoyed a narrow lead after ten minutes. They accumulated a 17:16 lead. Israel extended the distance in the second quarter. They boosted the gap at 9-point mark at the interval 30:39. But Italy slowly trimmed the deficit in the third frame. They narrowed the distance to a single point 50:51 with one period remaining. Italy finally pulled ahead in the fourth frame and managed to eke out victory at the end. Raffaella Masciadri (185-F-80) added 12 points for the winning side. Shay Doron (175-SG-85, college: Maryland) answered with game-high 21 points for Israel. Liron Cohen (173-G-82) provided 10 points in the loss.
