After a brilliant season ended in the semifinal series of the playoffs it comes the unexpected announcement: Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro and coach Luca Dalmonte part ways. They both got an exit clause in the contract at the end of this year and the team decided to let Luca Dalmonte free to search for another team. It all depended on the economic situation Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro is facing these days. After loosing the main sponsorship agreement with Siviglia the italian team is now trying to plan its future and waiting to know on which budget effort they can count on for next season. Coach Luca Dalmonte 's current wage could become hard to be afforded in the next future so that Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro decided to exit from the contract and wait for the economic situation to get clearer before getting back on the coaches market. A new contract with Luca Dalmonte is also not unlikely.

Acea Virtus Roma claimed the opening win in the semifinal series versus Cantu. They needed overtime to prevail against pesky Cantu in the opener. Luigi Datome scored 23 points and grabbed 5 boards to pace the hosts. Cantu led by as many as 12 points at halftime. But Roma went on a 22:10 run in the fourth quarter to force the extra period. They managed to snatch the victory in overtime then. Phill Goss contributed 18 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Joe Ragland answered with 16 points for Cantu. Alex Tyus had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
