Trieste celebrated a confident road win over Verona 74:62 in the first leg of LegaDue Cup Eighth-Finals first leg. Brandon Brown (202-C/F-81, college: Tulane) stepped up with 19 points to lead Trieste. Verona were up by 9 points after the opening quarter. But Trieste denied the deficit and surged ahead for a 52:40 lead at the final break. They maintained the advantage throughout the fourth quarter and sealed the victory at the end. Michele Ruzzier (180-PG-93) netted 12 points, while Ariel Filloy (189-PG-87, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points for the winners. Richard McConnell (182-G-89, agency: Priority Sports, college: St.Mary's, CA) answered with 13 points, while Mario Jose Ghersetti (201-F-81) had 12 points and 9 rebounds for Verona.
Sigma Barcellona toppled Capo dOrlando 96:92 away from home. Troy Bell (186-PG-80, college: Boston Coll.) delivered 21 points to pace the charge. Taurean Green (185-G-85, college: Florida) added 20 points for Barcellona. Capo d'Orlando enjoyed a 57:47 halftime lead but Sigma Barcellona turned things upside down in the second half. They shot down the hosts and eked out a narrow win at the end. Melvin Sanders (196-F/G-81, college: Oklahoma St.) provided 15 points in the victory. Alex Young (198-G/F-89, college: IUPUI) replied with 31 points for Capo d'Orlando. Talor Battle (183-G-88, college: Penn St.) netted 25 points in the loss.
