Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-PG-84, agency: Two Points) had a very impressive game in the last round for Pall.Trento, receiving a Eurobasket.com Lega2 Player of the Week award for round 5. The 28-year old player was the main contributor (38 points, eight rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Aget Service IM (#13, 1-4) 84-73. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Pall.Trento is placed at 9th position in Italian Lega2. Pall.Trento is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. In the team's last game Umeh had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Pall.Trento's top player in his first season with the team. Michael Umeh averages this season 15.5ppg and 5.3rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was young American Casper Ware (177-PG-90) of Novipiu Casale. Ware had a very good evening with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Of course Novipiu Casale cruised to a 88-81 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Fileni BPA Jesi (#11, 2-3). This victory allowed Novipiu Casale to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 4 matches. Ware is a newcomer at Novipiu Casale, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.2ppg (#8). His other stats are also decent: 4.4rpg and 3.8apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Delroy James (203-F-87, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) of FCM Ferentino (#14). James scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite James' great performance FCM Ferentino lost 83-97 to the higher-ranked Sigma Barcel. (#7, 3-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. FCM Ferentino can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for James he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. James has a very solid season. In 5 games in Italy he scored 12.6ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. J.R. Giddens (196-F/G-85) of C.de Latte BRE - 25 points and 8 rebounds 5. Laurence Ekperigin (201-F-88) of FCM Ferentino - 20 points and 10 rebounds 6. Ronald Slay (203-F-81) of Givova Scafati - 24 points and 9 rebounds 7. Craig Callahan (203-F-81) of Sigma Barcel. - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Rodney Green (195-F/G-88) of Novipiu Casale - 32 points and 3 rebounds 9. Antonio Graves (191-G-85) of Giorgo Tesi PT - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Mario Jose Ghersetti (201-F-81) of Tezenis VE - 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
