Round 7 most important game was a victory of Montepaschi Siena over 4th placed Lottomatica Roma 81-70 on Monday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lottomatica Roma. The game was mostly controlled by Montepaschi Siena. Lottomatica Roma managed to win third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Lottomatica Roma helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 assists. His fellow American import forward David Moss (196-83, college: Indiana St., agency: SportsTalent) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Montepaschi Siena's coach Luca Banchi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Nigerian power forward Gani Lawal (205-88, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds for Lottomatica Roma. Defending champion (5-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with Cantu. Lottomatica Roma at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Trenkwalder RE and SAIE3 BO. Montepaschi Siena is looking forward to face Juvecaserta (#11) in Caserta in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lottomatica Roma will play on the road against Umana Venezia (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
SerieA top team - Cimberio Varese (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Angelico Biella (1-6) 77-60. It was a great evening for American power forward Bryant Dunston (202-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Mike Green helped adding 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American-Qatari guard Trey Johnson (196-84, college: Jackson St., agency: Priority Sports) responded with 17 points. Undefeated Cimberio Varese have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Angelico Biella lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Cimberio Varese will play against league's second-placed Banco di Sard. in Sassari in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Angelico Biella will play on the road against Air Avellino (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between VL Pesaro (2-5) and Enel Brindisi (3-4), which took place in Brindisi. Higher ranked VL Pesaro lost to fourteenth ranked Enel Brindisi in a road game 55-72 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for Scottie Reynolds who led the winners and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Enel Brindisi's coach Pier Luigi Bucchi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Lamont Mack came up with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for VL Pesaro in the defeat. Enel Brindisi moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. VL Pesaro lost their fourth game in a row. Loser VL Pesaro dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Enel Brindisi will meet at home Sutor Montegranaro (#13) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. VL Pesaro will play against Cantu and hope to secure a win.
Another upset was a game between SAIE3 BO (4-3) and Juvecaserta (3-4), which took place in Caserta. Higher ranked SAIE3 BO lost to ninth ranked Juvecaserta in a road game 56-65. Jeleel Akindele fired a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. SAIE3 BO's coach Alessandro Finelli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Juvecaserta moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. SAIE3 BO at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Juvecaserta's next round opponent will be higher ranked Montepaschi Siena (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SAIE3 BO will play against Trenkwalder RE in Reggio Emilia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between third ranked Cantu (5-2) and 11th ranked Vanoli Cremona (2-5) in Cantu on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Cantu outscored guests from Cremona 87-60. It was a very good performance for Beye Tabu-Eboma who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Cantu's coach Andrea Trinchieri felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cantu maintains third place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Cimberio VA, which they share with Montepaschi. Loser Vanoli Cremona dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Cantu will face VL Pesaro (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Vanoli Cremona will play against Armani Milano.

Other games in round 7 were not that significant. Trenkwalder RE beat Sutor MGR on the road 94-80. Banco di Sard. destroyed Sidigas AV on its own court 102-81. Umana VE managed to outperform EA7 Armani in Venezia 105-100.
