The most exciting game of round 8 in the SerieA took place in Varese. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Banco di Sard. (6-2) to top-ranked Cimberio Varese (8-0) 85-84 in the game for the first place. Banco di Sard. trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 29-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-85 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American swingman Ebi Ere (195-81, college: Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) who added 5 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. American guard Marvis Thornton (194-77, college: St.John's) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Banco di Sard.'s coach Romeo Sacchetti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Cimberio Varese have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Banco di Sard. at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Cantu and Montepaschi. Cimberio Varese are looking forward to face Trenkwalder RE (#6) in Reggio Emilia in the next round where they are favorite. Banco di Sard. will play at home against Vanoli Cremona (#12) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Bottom-ranked Angelico Biella managed to get a second victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time they won against fifteenth-ranked Air Avellino 82-74. The winners were led by American forward Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds and Trey Johnson supported him with 15 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds by American power forward Linton Johnson (203-80, college: Tulane, agency: Priority Sports) did not help to save the game for Air Avellino. Angelico Biella (2-6) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Air Avellino. Air Avellino lost third consecutive game. Angelico Biella will play against higher ranked Umana Venezia (#11) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Air Avellino will play against Enel Brindisi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Reggio Emilia was also quite interesting. 6th ranked SAIE3 BO (4-4) played at the court of seventh ranked Trenkwalder RE (5-3). Trenkwalder RE managed to secure a 9-point victory 77-68 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Donnel Taylor who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Angelo Gigli produced 12 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Trenkwalder RE have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Acea Virtus RM. Loser SAIE3 BO dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with EA7 Armani and Enel Brindisi. Trenkwalder RE will meet league's leader Cimberio Varese on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SAIE3 BO will play against Lottomatica Roma (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Venezia was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Lottomatica Roma (5-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Umana Venezia (3-5). Lottomatica Roma managed to secure a 8-point victory 75-67. Luigi Datome orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lottomatica Roma maintains fifth position with 5-3 record, which they share with Trenkwalder RE. Umana Venezia at the other side dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. Lottomatica Roma's next round opponent will be SAIE3 BO (#7) in Bologna. Umana Venezia will play on the road against Angelico Biella.
Fourth ranked Montepaschi Siena (6-2) crushed at home 11th ranked Juvecaserta (3-5) by 20 points 86-66, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Bobby Brown who helped to win the game recording 20 points. Montepaschi Siena's coach Luca Banchi used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Cantu and Banco di Sard. Loser Juvecaserta dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Montepaschi Siena will face Cantu (#4) on the road in the next round. Juvecaserta will play against VL Pesaro (#14).

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: EA7 Armani destroyed Vanoli CR on the opponent's court 78-59. Enel Brindisi outscored Sutor MGR in a home game 97-78. Cantu managed to beat Pesaro on the road 76-66.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 27 points and 12 rebounds by Christian Burns of Sutor MGR.

Vanoli CR - EA7 Armani 59-78

Rather expected game when 12th ranked Vanoli Cremona (2-6) was crushed at home by ninth ranked Armani Milano (4-4) 78-59 on Monday. The game without a history. Armani Milano led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Armani Milano forced 23 Vanoli Cremona turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Richard Hendrix (204-86, college: Alabama) who added 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Armani Milano's coach Sergio Scariolo used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Croatian center Andrija Stipanovic (209-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Lance Harris (195-84, college: Kansas St.) scored 15 points. Armani Milano moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Enel Brindisi and SAIE3 BO. Vanoli Cremona lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with six games lost. Armani Milano will face bottom-ranked Sutor Montegranaro (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
