Best players of Italian SerieA round 9 - Nov 27, 2012

Linton
Johnson
Experienced American Linton Johnson (203-F/C-80, agency: Priority Sports) had a great game in the last round for Sidigas AV and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 32-year old power forward had a double-double of 15 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team beat Enel Brindisi (#9, 4-5) 81-71. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on the top of the standings. Sidigas AV is placed at 12th position in Italian SerieA. Sidigas AV is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-6 record. Johnson has many years of experience at Sidigas AV, through which he has constantly improved. Tulane University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 8.9rpg) and averages solid 1.1bpg and 52.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Sidigas AV's star - 28-year old American guard Mustafa Shakur (193-G-84). Shakur impressed basketball fans with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course Sidigas AV cruised to a 81-71 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Enel Brindisi (#9, 4-5). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Sidigas AV managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 12th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Shakur is a newcomer at Sidigas AV and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Keith Langford (193-SG-83) of EA7 Armani (#8). Langford got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He was a key player of EA7 Armani, leading his team to a 82-76 win against the lower-ranked Sutor MGR (#15, 2-7). EA7 Armani needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 4 lost games. Langford has a very solid season. In 8 games in Italy he scored 15.1ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Andrija Stipanovic (209-C-86) of Vanoli CR - 16 points and 12 rebounds
5. Ebi Ere (195-G/F-81) of Cimberio VA - 24 points and 9 rebounds
6. Travis Diener (184-PG-82) of Banco di Sard. - 23 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Manuchar Markoishvili (196-SF-86) of Cantu - 18 points and 11 rebounds
8. Lance Harris (195-G-84) of Vanoli CR - 18 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Russell Robinson (185-PG-86) of Angelico BI - 17 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Luigi Datome (203-F-87) of Acea Virtus RM - 21 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
