The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

An interesting game for Castelletto (9-3) which hosted in Castelletto 4th placed Lucca (7-4). Third ranked Castelletto managed to get a 6-point victory 71-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lucca. The hosts trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. Castelletto forced 24 Lucca turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Federico Bolzonella (184-84) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Alex Ranuzzi (195-86, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Diego Banti (204-83, agency: Interperformances) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for Lucca. Castelletto have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-3 record behind leader Matera. Newly promoted Lucca dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Castelletto are looking forward to face Agrigento (#5) on the road in the next round. Lucca will play against Omegna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Bari. Ninth ranked Bari (6-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging higher ranked Treviglio (7-5) 85-82 on Sunday evening. Swingman Daniele Bonessio (200-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Antonio Ruggiero chipped in 20 points. At the losing side point guard Simone Ferrarese (182-87) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Bari moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Omegna. Treviglio lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Bari will play against Casalpusterlengo (#10) at home in the next round. Treviglio will play against Bologna in Ozzano Emilia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Omegna between Omegna and Mirandola. Eighth ranked Omegna (6-6) got a very close home victory over 17th ranked Mirandola (3-10). Omegna managed to escape with a 3-point win 66-63 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Christian Villani nailed 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Luca Pignatti came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds for Mirandola in the defeat. Omegna maintains eighth place with 6-6 record, which they share with Bari. Newly promoted Mirandola dropped to the eighteenth position with ten games lost. Omegna will meet higher ranked Lucca (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mirandola will play against Mazzeo San Severo (#12) and hope to secure a win.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Chieti (5-7) and Mazzeo San Severo (5-8), which took place in San Severo. Higher ranked Chieti lost to fifteenth ranked Mazzeo San Severo in a road game 58-69. Ousmane Gueye fired 22 points and 6 steals (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Mazzeo San Severo moved-up to twelfth place. Chieti at the other side dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Mazzeo San Severo's next round opponent will be Mirandola (#18) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game.
Another upset was a game between Casalpusterlengo (5-7) and Reggio Calabr. (3-9), which took place in Casalpusterlengo. Higher ranked Casalpusterlengo lost at home to eighteenth ranked Reggio Calabr. 65-77 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Casalpusterlengo. It was a very good performance for Alessandro Piazza who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 assists and 5 steals. Reggio Calabr.'s coach Francesco Ponticiello used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Reggio Calabr. moved-up to seventeenth place. Loser Casalpusterlengo keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. Reggio Calabr. will face higher ranked Recanati (#15) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Perugia was beaten by Firenze on the road 84-71. Recanati lost to Agrigento on its own court 62-69. Latina Basket managed to outperform Ferrara in a road game 83-66.

Firenze - Perugia 84-71

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Firenze (8-4) beat at home 13th ranked Perugia (4-8) 84-71 on Monday. Perugia was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 27-12 charge of Firenze, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Firenze especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Perugia was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for swingman Daniele Casadei (199-81) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
