A1 round 9 most important game was a victory of Parma over 4th placed Taranto 58-52 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Taranto. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 18-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Parma made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Croatian center Sonja Kireta (198-76) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. New Zealand-American forward Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford) contributed with 15 points and 4 steals for the winners. American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds for Taranto. Parma maintains third place with 6-2 record having just three points less than leader Familia Schio. Defending champion Taranto dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Parma are looking forward to face Umbertide (#4) at home in the next round. Taranto will play against Pall.Pozzuoli and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
A1 top team - Familia Schio (8-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked Priolo (1-7) 78-73. American center Jantel Lavender (190-88, college: Ohio St.) stepped up and scored 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Elodie Godin chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Valentina Donvito (170-78) with 21 points. Familia Schio have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Priolo at the other side stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Familia Schio will play against Cagliari CUS (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Priolo will play against Cagliari CUS and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between ninth ranked CA Romagna (3-6) and 10th ranked Cagliari CUS (1-6) in Faenza on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. CA Romagna outscored guests from Cagliari 59-33. Caterina Dotto nailed 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Cinzia Arioli came up with 12 points for Cagliari CUS in the defeat. CA Romagna moved-up to seventh place. Cagliari CUS lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. CA Romagna will meet C.U.S. Chieti (#8) on the road in the next round. Cagliari CUS will play against Priolo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 9 Chieti was smashed by Umbertide on the road 90-66. Pozzuoli lost to Lucca on its own court 45-61.
The most impressive performance of 9th round was 21 points and 7 rebounds by Jazmine Sepulveda of Chieti.



Faenza - Cagliari CUS 59-33

The game between ninth ranked CA Romagna (3-6) and 10th ranked Cagliari CUS (1-6) in Faenza on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. CA Romagna outscored guests from Cagliari 59-33. The game without a history. CA Romagna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cagliari CUS to just 6 points in first quarter. CA Romagna dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Cagliari CUS's 22. They outrebounded Cagliari CUS 37-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. Point guard Caterina Dotto (167-93) nailed 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international center Kathrin Ress (196-85, college: Boston Coll.) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four CA Romagna players scored in double figures. The former international guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84) came up with 12 points and Swedish guard Elin Eldebrink (174-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 9 points respectively for Cagliari CUS in the defeat. CA Romagna moved-up to seventh place. Cagliari CUS lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Umbertide (5-2) crushed at home 7th ranked C.U.S. Chieti (2-6) 90-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Umbertide. C.U.S. Chieti managed to win third quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Umbertide forced 25 C.U.S. Chieti turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Umbertide especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. American D'Andra Moss (178-88, college: VCU, agency: Two Points) nailed 27 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Czech Katerina Zohnova (179-84) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Umbertide players scored in double figures. American-Puerto Rican Jazmine Sepulveda (178-85, college: S.Florida, agency: Merit Sports) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian center Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for C.U.S. Chieti in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Umbertide moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted C.U.S. Chieti dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Umbertide will meet higher ranked Parma (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. C.U.S. Chieti will play against CA Romagna (#7) in Faenza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
