A1 is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left.

The game between second ranked Lucca (8-2) and fourth ranked Taranto (7-3) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Lucca was defeated by Taranto in a tough game in Taranto 50-55. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Lucca. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Taranto forced 26 Lucca turnovers. It was a great evening for French power forward Nicole Antibe (187-74) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) helped adding 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Devereaux Peters (187-89, college: Notre Dame, agency: LBM Management) responded with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 7-3 record. Lucca at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Parma. Taranto are looking forward to face CA Romagna (#8) in Faenza in the next round. Lucca will play on the road against the league's leader Familia Schio (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A1 top team - Familia Schio (9-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Pall.Pozzuoli (2-8) 82-43. It was a quality performance for the former international guard Giorgia Sottana (178-88) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 4 assists. Jantel Lavender accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. Familia Schio's coach Maurizio Lasi felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Darxia Morris (172-89, college: UCLA, agency: Merit Sports) came up with 12 points and 6 rebounds for Pall.Pozzuoli in the defeat. Familia Schio have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Pall.Pozzuoli lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Priolo. Familia Schio will play against league's second-placed Lucca at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pall.Pozzuoli will play against Umbertide (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 11: bottom-ranked Cagliari CUS was destroyed by Umbertide on the opponent's court 80-53. Orvieto unfortunately lost to Chieti in a home game 66-74. Parma rolled over Priolo on the road 70-51.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 26 points and 12 rebounds by Shamela Hampton of Orvieto.



Umbertide - Cagliari CUS 80-53

Very expected game when 11th ranked Cagliari CUS (1-9) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Umbertide (6-3) 80-53. The game was mostly controlled by Umbertide. Cagliari CUS was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cagliari CUS to just 5 points in second quarter. Umbertide dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Cagliari CUS's 30. Umbertide forced 25 Cagliari CUS turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Courtney Willis (188-82, college: E.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. International guard Gaia Gorini (182-92) accounted for 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Umbertide players scored in double figures. Swedish guard Elin Eldebrink (174-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Swedish center Louice Halvarsson (189-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for Cagliari CUS in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Umbertide maintains fifth place with 6-3 record. Cagliari CUS lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Umbertide will play against Pall.Pozzuoli (#9) at home in the next round. Cagliari CUS will have a break next round.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked C.U.S. Chieti (4-6) defeated on the road 6th ranked Orvieto (4-5) 74-66. Orvieto was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. It was an exceptional evening for American-Puerto Rican Jazmine Sepulveda (178-85, college: S.Florida, agency: Merit Sports) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Lithuanian guard Kamile Nacickaite (180-89, college: Drexel) accounted for 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four C.U.S. Chieti players scored in double figures. American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and international swingman Martina Fassina (182-88) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for Orvieto in the defeat. Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Priolo (2-8) was rolled over at home by third ranked Parma (8-2) 70-51. It looked good early as Priolo took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Parma had a 27-14 second period charge getting the lead and Priolo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 51-70. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Priolo to just 6 points in third quarter. It was an exceptional evening for Bulgarian forward Gergana Simeonov (186-79) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. New Zealand-American forward Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford) accounted for 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Serbian forward Monika Veselovski (183-77) came up with 22 points and American center Kelley Cain (198-89, college: Tennessee) added 5 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Priolo in the defeat. Parma have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Lucca. Priolo at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost.
