There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

There was a change at the A2 leadership position after last games. Round 13 most important game was a defeat of league's leader San Martino (11-2). They were defeated by fourth ranked Milano (10-3) 46-39 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of San Martino. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 18-6 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Milano dominated on the defensive end, holding San Martino to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 25 San Martino turnovers. The former international forward Manuela Zanon (187-80) stepped up and scored 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and center Alessandra Calastri (193-85) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Slovenian forward Lea Jagodic (182-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Milano have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Crema. San Martino at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ragusa. San Martino will play next round against Virtus Cagliari trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Milano will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Valmadrera at home.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Umana Reyer as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Umana Reyer edged 5th ranked Marghera in Venezia 66-65. Romanian forward Simina Mandache (185-81) nailed 23 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for the winning side and Debora Carangelo accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Umana Reyer's coach Andrea Liberalotto allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. point guard Sara Innocenti (170-92) came up with 17 points for Marghera in the defeat. Umana Reyer (12-1) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Marghera at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Marghera will play next round against Udine trying to get back on the winning streak. Umana Reyer will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Muggia on the road.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Napoli S.Dike (9-3) against seventh ranked Meccanica NB (7-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Napoli S.Dike was defeated by Meccanica NB in a tough game in Bologna 42-50. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Napoli S.Dike. Sara Crudo fired 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Louella Tomlinson produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 17 rebounds and 8 blocks for lost side. Meccanica NB moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with Ancona and Min.Battipaglia. Loser Napoli S.Dike keeps the third position with three games lost. Meccanica NB will meet Min.Battipaglia (#6) on the road in the next round. Napoli S.Dike will play against the league's leader Ragusa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in La Spezia. 4th placed host S. La Spezia (8-4) was smashed by leader Ragusa (12-0) 73-51. Worth to mention a great performance of Paola Mauriello who helped to win the game recording 26 points. S. La Spezia's coach Dragomir Bukvic gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Ragusa. They maintain first place in South with 12-0 record. S. La Spezia at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Ragusa's next round opponent will be Napoli S.Dike (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. S. La Spezia will play against Calabria in Reggio Calabria.
Bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena (0-12) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to eleventh ranked Viterbo (4-8) 63-48 on Saturday evening. Alessandra Boi stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 24 rebounds for the winners. Consum.it Siena's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Viterbo moved-up to tenth place in South. Consum.it Siena lost their twelfth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Viterbo will face College Italia (#12) in Roma in the next round. Consum.it Siena will play on the road against Ancona and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 13:
In North Udine won against Broni on the opponent's court 62-54. Cremona outscored Biassono in a home game 86-55. Crema rolled over Muggia on the road 80-55. San Salvatore defeated Alghero on its own court 72-69. Cagliari V. was beaten by Valmadrera in a road game 65-58.
In South Min.Battipaglia won against Irpino at home 66-58. T. La Spezia outscored College Italia on the opponent's court 74-41. Calabria recorded a loss to Ancona in a home game 54-58.



Group North
Milano - San Martino 46-39

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Umana Reyer as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Umana Reyer edged 5th ranked Marghera in Venezia 66-65. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Marghera won third quarter 17-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Umana Reyer won last quarter 18-18. They also forced 21 Marghera turnovers. Rather expected game when 9th ranked Broni (5-8) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Udine (7-6) 62-54 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 39-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Udine made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Broni turnovers. Forward Arianna Zampieri (183-88) stepped up and scored 7 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and guard Debora Vicenzotti (181-89) chipped in 17 points. At the losing side center Veronica Besagni (185-86) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her eleven free throws !!!) and swingman Giulia Leva (180-91) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her eleven free throws !!!). Forward Giulia Maffenini (174-92) stepped up and scored 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Alessia Smaldone (170-95) chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Cremona's coach Andrea Anilonti felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Sara Canova (174-89) responded with 18 points and point guard Giulia Porro (166-95) scored 12 points. Cremona moved-up to twelfth place in North. Biassono lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 12 games lost.
