The most exciting game of round 16 in the Nazionale A took place in Agrigento. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Treviglio (8-6) to fourth ranked Agrigento (10-5) 73-70 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 44-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Argentinian forward Albano Chiarastella (196-85) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Alfredo Moruzzi (193-80) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Agrigento's coach Franco Ciani used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. point guard Simone Ferrarese (182-87) replied with 28 points for Treviglio. Newly promoted Agrigento maintains fourth position with 10-5 record. Treviglio at the other side dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Agrigento are looking forward to face Lucca (#5) on the road in the next round. Treviglio will play against Reggio Calabr. in Reggio Calabria and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Nazionale A top team - Torino (12-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat twelfth ranked Naturhouse Ferrara (6-9) 79-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Naturhouse Ferrara. Worth to mention a quality performance of power forward Filippo Baldi Rossi (207-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Marco Evangelisti who added 29 points (made all of his seven free throws) during the contest. At the losing side forward Simone Cortesi (196-86) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Naturhouse Ferrara's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Torino have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-2 record. Newly promoted Naturhouse Ferrara keeps the twelfth place with nine games lost. They share the position with San Severo. Torino will play against league's second-placed Matera on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Naturhouse Ferrara will play against Bologna (#19) in Ozzano Emilia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Omegna was also quite interesting. Third ranked Castelletto (10-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Omegna (7-7). Castelletto managed to secure a 4-point victory 82-78 on Saturday. The winners were led by Francesco Ihedioha who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds by Stefano Masciadri did not help to save the game for Omegna. Castelletto maintains third position with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Torino. Loser Omegna dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Castelletto will meet at home Mirandola (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Omegna will play against Recanati (#15) and hope to secure a win.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Firenze (7-7) and Mazzeo San Severo (6-9), which took place in San Severo. Higher ranked Firenze lost to fourteenth ranked Mazzeo San Severo in a road game 66-73. Ivan Scarponi fired 20 points for the winners. Mazzeo San Severo moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Ferrara. Firenze lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Mazzeo San Severo will have a break next round.
The game between eleventh ranked Casalpusterlengo (7-7) and 13th ranked Recanati (5-9) in Casalpusterlengo on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Casalpusterlengo outscored guests from Recanati 76-54. It was a very good performance for Marco Planezio who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds. Recanati's coach Piero Coen gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Casalpusterlengo moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Recanati dropped to the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Casalpusterlengo will face Chieti (#10) on the road in the next round. Recanati will play against Omegna (#9).

Other games in round 16 were not that significant. Latina Basket was beaten by Reggio Calabr. on the road 75-67. Bari won against Chieti on its own court 79-62. Matera managed to outperform Perugia in a road game 73-66. Mirandola recorded a loss to Lucca at home 79-86.

Reggio Calabr. - Latina Basket 75-67

There was a small surprise when seventeenth ranked Reggio Calabr. (5-9) beat 15th ranked Latina Basket (5-10) in Reggio Calabria 75-67 on Sunday. Latina Basket trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 18-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 67-75 at the end of the game.
