At the end of the first round just before Christmas, the three first Italian Women championships (A1, A2 and the newborn A3) have expressed the contenders for the Italian Cup of each category. In A1 series, Schio (9 wins -1 loss), Lucca (8-2), Parma of Tijana Ajdukovic (195-C-91, agency: Regeneracom Sports) (8-2) and Umbertide (7-3) gained the ticket for the Final Four; the upset is the absence of Italian reigning champs of Taranto (5 in standings and unadmitted). In A2 series, the first two teams of each group grabbed the pass for the Final Four: in Northern side, Venezia (12-1) and San Martino di Lupari (11-2); in Southern, Ragusa (12-0, the only team unbeaten among professionals) and Carispe La Spezia (10-2) In A3 series, the first two teams of each group: for the group A Sesto San Giovanni (10-1) and Moncalieri (8-2); for the group B Vigarano (10-1) and Ferrara (8-3); for group C Brindisi (10-1) and Potenza (8-3); and the best thirds overall Trieste (B, 8-3) and Torino (A, 8-3). The Italian Cup Finals will take place on spring on venues to be determined.
The process that started some months ago has come to a happy ending: Emily Correal (190-F-90, agency: Interperformances) will soon have her Italian passport and her wish to play for the Italian NT may someday come true.
Emily played basketball at the College of Wiliam & Mary where, on her senior year, she started all 30 games for the Tribe, leading the Green and Gold with 16.2 ppg and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Emily is a 6.3" Forward, with good hands and good feet. She is a solid athlete and has developed a solid face-up jumpshot out to 17-22 feet which has really helped expand her game and is quite affective coming off of screens ; runs the floor extremely well and can get to the basket with her surprising ball handling and body control for a player her size. She is a good area defensive rebounder and will block shots coming at her or chasing them in his area.
