The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin while 2 of them nedded overtime. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with few extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Round 13 in SerieA ended with 5 & very close games. The first one was a victory of Lottomatica Roma over 6th ranked Enel Brindisi 86-82 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Enel Brindisi. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Lottomatica Roma made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game, while Enel Brindisi only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Enel Brindisi 36-22 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Enel Brindisi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Phil Goss (186-83, college: Drexel) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Bobby Jones (201-84, college: Washington) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. International swingman Jeffrey Viggiano (198-84, college: Massachusetts) answered with 27 points and 4 steals for Enel Brindisi. Enel Brindisi's coach Pier Luigi Bucchi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lottomatica Roma maintains fifth place with 8-5 record. Newly promoted Enel Brindisi keeps the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with EA7 Armani. Lottomatica Roma are looking forward to face Angelico Biella (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Enel Brindisi will play against SAIE3 BO (#11) in Bologna and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Montepaschi Siena (10-3) against tenth ranked Umana Venezia (6-7) on Sunday night. Visiting Montepaschi Siena was edged by Umana Venezia in a tough game in Venezia 63-65. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Montepaschi Siena. French forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-82, college: Pepperdine) stepped up and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Alvin Young chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 17 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Umana Venezia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Montepaschi Siena keeps the third position with three games lost. Umana Venezia will play against Air Avellino (#15) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Montepaschi Siena will play against Sutor Montegranaro (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
SerieA top team - Cimberio Varese (12-1) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Vanoli Cremona (4-9) 94-84. Adrian Banks nailed 22 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Cimberio Varese's coach Francesco Vitucci used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hrvoje Peric came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds for Vanoli Cremona in the defeat. Cimberio Varese have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Vanoli Cremona at the other side keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Sutor MGR. Cimberio Varese will meet bottom-ranked VL Pesaro (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vanoli Cremona will play against Trenkwalder RE (#9) in Reggio Emilia and hope to secure a win.
Angelico Biella (#14) forced the game against Armani Milano (#7) into an overtime, but lost by three points 96-99. The game took place in Biella. But the guests from Milano were better at the end. Keith Langford fired 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Armani Milano (7-6) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Enel Brindisi. Angelico Biella lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Armani Milano's next round opponent will be higher ranked Cantu (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Angelico Biella will play against Lottomatica Roma (#5).

It was a very good performance for Marco Mordente who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Juvecaserta (6-7) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Air Avellino lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Juvecaserta will face league's second-placed Banco di Sard. in Sassari in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Air Avellino will play on the road against Umana Venezia (#8).

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Trenkwalder RE was smashed by Cantu on the road 86-64. Bottom-ranked Pesaro lost to Sutor MGR on its own court 78-93. SAIE3 BO unfortunately lost to Banco di Sard. in Sassari 67-81.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 24 points and 5 rebounds by Antwain Barbour of Pesaro.



Sidigas AV - JuveCaserta 84-86 OT

Air Avellino (#14) forced overtime, but falled to Juvecaserta (#11) by two points 84-86 on Sunday night. The game took place in Avellino. But the guests from Caserta were better at the end. The guests trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. Juvecaserta made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Air Avellino was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for the former international Marco Mordente (192-79) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Bulgarian forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Valerio Spinelli (185-79) added 20 points in the effort for Air Avellino. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Juvecaserta (6-7) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Air Avellino lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Juvecaserta will face league's second-placed Banco di Sard. in Sassari in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Air Avellino will play on the road against Umana Venezia (#8).
