Talented Slovenian Lea Jagodic (182-F-91) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best San Martino and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com A2 Player of the Week award for round 14. The 21-year old forward had a double-double of 19 points and eleven rebounds, while her team outclassed Cagliari V. (#13, 2-12) with 26-point margin 65-39. San Martino maintains the 2nd position in Italian A2. They are still close to the very top. San Martino would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 12-2 record. In the team's last game Jagodic had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. She turned to be San Martino's top player in her first season with the team. Jagodic has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.4ppg) and averages solid 52.7% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old British center Dominique Allen (192-C-89) of Bologna. Allen impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Bologna lost that game 64-70 to slightly higher-ranked Min.Battipaglia (#6, 8-5). Bologna managed to keep the same 7th spot in South. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 7-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Allen is a newcomer at Bologna and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was Australian Louella Tomlinson (193-F-88, agency: Regeneracom Sports) of Napoli S.Dike (#3). Tomlinson scored 14 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Tomlinson's great performance Napoli S.Dike lost 46-75 to #1 ranked Ragusa. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Napoli S.Dike needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in South. Their record is 9 victories and 4 lost games. Tomlinson has a great season in Italy. After 13 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.3ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 12.2rpg (#1 in league). She also has 2.2spg, 3.7bpg and FGP: 58.7%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Martina Rejchova (195-C-83) of Viterbo - 18 points and 11 rebounds 5. Monique Ngo Ndjock (187-F-85) of Ancona - 17 points and 12 rebounds 6. Manuela Zanon (187-F-80) of Milano - 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists 7. Martina Brusadin (181-F-83) of Cremona - 14 points and 16 rebounds 8. Chiara Cadoni (182-F/C-94) of Ancona - 10 points and 16 rebounds 9. Erica Reggiani (175-G-94) of College Italia - 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Sara Canova (174-G/F-89) of Biassono - 16 points and 6 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
