Troy Bell
Lega 2 is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 15 rounds left.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Barcellona. First ranked Sigma Barcellona faced 4th placed Givova Scafati. Host Sigma Barcellona (11-4) defeated guests from Scafati (9-5) 91-86. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Givova Scafati won third quarter 27-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Sigma Barcellona won last quarter 26-23. They made 24-of-24 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Troy Bell (186-80, college: Boston Coll.) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import point guard Taurean Green (184-85, college: Florida) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ronald Slay (203-81, college: Tennessee, agency: David Lee services) who recorded 32 points and 7 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Sigma Barcellona maintains first place with 11-4 record. Givova Scafati at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Sigma Barcellona are looking forward to face Pall.Trento (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Givova Scafati will play against Upea CdO (#14) in Capo d'Orlando and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Bottom-ranked Aget Service IM managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of four consecutive loses. This time they edged fourteenth-ranked Upea CdO in Imola 68-65. It was a good game for American guard D.J. Gay (183-89, college: San Diego St.) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 5 assists. Matteo Chillo contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Dominican center Otis George (205-82, college: Louisville) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for Upea CdO. Aget Service IM maintains fifteenth place with 4-11 record. Newly promoted Upea CdO keeps the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Aget Service IM will play against higher ranked AcegasAps TR (#7) in Trieste in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Upea CdO will play on the road against Givova Scafati (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Ferentino, where higher ranked Biancoblu BO (8-6) lost to thirteenth ranked FCM Ferentino (5-9) in a road game 80-88 on Sunday. It was a great evening for Delroy James who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. FCM Ferentino's coach Franco Gramenzi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was William Mosley with 19 points and 9 rebounds. FCM Ferentino have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Biancoblu BO keeps the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with AcegasAps TR and C.de Latte BRE. FCM Ferentino will meet at home league's second-placed Tuscany Pistoia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Biancoblu BO will play against Novipiu Casale and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Verona. Local Tezenis VE (8-7) outscored 7th ranked LeGamberi Foods Forlì (7-7) 89-60. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of LeGamberi Foods Forlì. It was a quality performance for Olaseni Lawal who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 18 rebounds. Tezenis VE's coach Alessandro Ramagli felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tezenis VE moved-up to eighth place. LeGamberi Foods Forlì at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Tezenis VE will have a break next round. LeGamberi Foods Forlì will play at home against Prima Veroli (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 15 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Fileni BPA Jesi was defeated by AcegasAps TR in Trieste 79-72. Pall.Trento was beaten by C.de Latte BRE at home 69-81. Prima Veroli lost to Giorgo Tesi PT on the opponent's court 64-70.

AcegasAps TR - Fileni BPA Jesi 79-72

There was no surprise in Trieste where 11th ranked Fileni BPA Jesi (5-9) was defeated by eighth ranked AcegasAps TR (8-6) 79-72. It looked good early as Fileni BPA Jesi took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then AcegasAps TR had a 19-8 second period charge getting the lead and Fileni BPA Jesi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-79. AcegasAps TR made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Fileni BPA Jesi turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Jobey Thomas (194-80, college: Charlotte) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Belarusian Mikita Meshcharakou (202-88, college: Wake Forest) accounted for 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. AcegasAps TR's coach Eugenio Dalmasson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international center Michele Maggioli (212-77) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Fileni BPA Jesi in the defeat. AcegasAps TR moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Biancoblu BO and C.de Latte BRE. Fileni BPA Jesi at the other side dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. AcegasAps TR's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Aget Service IM (#15) in Imola and are hoping to win another game. Fileni BPA Jesi will play on the road against C.de Latte BRE (#5) in Brescia.
