Nazionale A is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 19 rounds left.
The game between third ranked Agrigento (11-6) and eleventh ranked Firenze (8-9) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Agrigento was defeated by Firenze in a tough game in Firenze 64-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Agrigento. Firenze moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Chieti and Casalpusterlengo. Newly promoted Agrigento keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Castelletto. Firenze will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Agrigento will play at home against Reggio Calabr. in Reggio Calabria and is hoping to win this game. Nazionale A top team - Torino (14-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fourteenth ranked Recanati (6-11) 74-70. It was a great evening for naturalized Polish power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Daniele Sandri helped adding 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side guard Marco Gnaccarini (185-81) responded with 21 points and 4 assists. Torino maintains first place with 14-3 record. Recanati at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with San Severo and Mirandola. Torino will play against Perugia (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Recanati will play against Castelletto and hopes to get back on the winning track. It was an exceptional evening for Alexander Simoncelli who led the winners and scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Gianpaolo Ricci came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds for Casalpusterlengo in the defeat. Castelletto moved-up to third place, which they share with Agrigento. Loser Casalpusterlengo dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Firenze and Chieti. Castelletto will meet at home Recanati (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Casalpusterlengo will have a break next round. A very interesting game took place in Chieti. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 9th ranked Chieti (8-9) to eighth ranked Omegna (9-8) 92-90 in the game for the eighth place. Nika Metreveli fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Omegna maintains eighth place with 9-8 record. Chieti at the other side keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Omegna's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Matera at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chieti will play against Lucca (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game between sixth ranked Treviglio (10-7) and 15th ranked Mazzeo San Severo (6-11) in Treviglio on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Treviglio outscored guests from San Severo 83-64. Worth to mention a great performance of Riccardo Perego who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Treviglio moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Lucca and Bari. Loser Mazzeo San Severo dropped to the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Treviglio will face Latina Basket (#18) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mazzeo San Severo will play against Bari (#5).
Other games in round 19 were not that significant. Bari beat Latina Basket on the road 70-55. Lucca won against Perugia on its own court 61-50. Reggio Calabr. managed to outperform Ferrara in Reggio Calabria 81-75. The most impressive performance of 19th round was 28 points by Simone Bonfiglio of Bari.
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Bari (10-7) beat on the road 18th ranked Latina Basket (5-13) 70-55 on Sunday. Latina Basket trailed 37-36 at halftime, rallying from a 24-9 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Simone Bonfiglio (181-88) who helped to win the game recording 28 points. The former international power forward Luca Bisconti (206-82) contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners.
