Sandri's double-double lands her A2 Player of the Week award - Jan 14, 2013

Martina
Sandri
24-year old power forward Martina Sandri (185-F/C-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked San Martino and receives a Eurobasket.com A2 Player of the Week award for round 15.
She had a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds, while her team outclassed Cremona (#12, 3-12) with 33-point margin 76-43. San Martino maintains the 2nd position in Italian league. They are still close to the very top. San Martino would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 13-2 record. It's Sandri's second year at San Martino and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Sandri has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 9.1rpg) and averages solid 52.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-C-84, agency: LBM Management) of Valmadrera. She is Polish-French center in her first season at Valmadrera. In the last game Piotrkiewicz recorded impressive double-double of 20 points and 18 rebounds. It was enough for Valmadrera to edge slightly higher-ranked San Salvatore (#9, 7-8) by 3 points 66-63. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in North. Valmadrera keeps 11th position. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-10 record. Piotrkiewicz is a newcomer at Valmadrera and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Selma Delibasic (193-C-80) of Calabria (#11). Delibasic scored 21 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Delibasic's great performance Calabria lost 48-66 to the higher-ranked Bologna (#6, 8-6). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Calabria can only dream about fighting for top spots in South. They have rather bad season and 3-11 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Delibasic she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Delibasic has individually a great season in Italy. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.3rpg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Louella Tomlinson (193-F-88) of Napoli S.Dike - 21 points and 15 rebounds
5. Patrizia De Gianni (191-F-88) of Cagliari V. - 18 points and 9 rebounds
6. Raelin D'Alie (168-PG-87) of Salerno - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists
7. Annalisa Borroni (183-G-83) of Muggia - 19 points and 10 rebounds
8. Gilda Cerri (185-C/F-90) of Crema - 16 points and 15 rebounds
9. Simina Mandache (185-F-81) of Umana Reyer - 16 points and 11 rebounds
10. Carla Fabris (185-F-86) of Marghera - 12 points and 11 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
