There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Ragusa (14-1) on the court of second ranked T. La Spezia on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by T. La Spezia 65-53. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Ragusa. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in South. The game was mostly controlled by T. La Spezia. Ragusa managed to win second period 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and guard Elisa Templari (172-89) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Greek power forward Peli Papamichail (189-86, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds. T. La Spezia (12-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position in South having just three points less than leader Ragusa. Ragusa at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. T. La Spezia are looking forward to face Ancona (#6) at home in the next round. Ragusa will play against Viterbo (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Milano. Third ranked host Milano (12-4) defeated one of their biggest challengers TEC-MAR Crema (11-5) 66-52. The winners were led by guard Silvia Gottardi (176-78) who scored that evening 18 points and 5 rebounds and Susanna Stabile supported her with 13 points and 6 steals. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Polish forward Magdalena Losi (173-80, agency: Promotex) did not help to save the game for TEC-MAR Crema. Milano maintains third position in North with 12-4 record having just one points less than leader Ragusa. Newly promoted TEC-MAR Crema keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Milano will play against Virtus Cagliari (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TEC-MAR Crema will play against the league's leader Umana Reyer (#1) in Venezia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A2 top team - Umana Reyer (15-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Broni (7-9) in Venezia 56-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Broni. Simina Mandache fired 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Umana Reyer's coach Andrea Liberalotto used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Liga Surkusa produced 20 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Umana Reyer have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Newly promoted Umana Reyer maintains first position in North with 15-1 record. Broni at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with San Salvatore. Umana Reyer will meet TEC-MAR Crema (#4) on the road in the next round. Broni will play against San Salvatore (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena (0-15) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 15th consecutive match to fifth ranked Min.Battipaglia (9-5) 88-44. It was a very good performance for Kourtney Treffers who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Min.Battipaglia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position in South with 9-5 record. Consum.it Siena at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Min.Battipaglia's next round opponent will be Salerno (#9) on the road. Consum.it Siena will play against Meccanica NB (#7) in Bologna and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Bologna was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked S. La Spezia (11-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Meccanica NB (8-7). S. La Spezia defeated Meccanica NB 59-46 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Alice Quarta who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. S. La Spezia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Napoli S.Dike. Loser Meccanica NB dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. S. La Spezia will face College Italia (#12) in Roma in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Meccanica NB will play on the road against Consum.it Siena (#13).

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16:
In North Udine won against San Salvatore on the opponent's court 52-41. San Martino managed to outperform Marghera in a home game 51-41. Valmadrera managed to beat Muggia on the road 79-65. Alghero defeated Cremona on its own court 79-71. Cagliari V. smashed Biassono in a road game 76-48.
In South Napoli S.Dike won against Salerno at home 63-55. College Italia managed to outperform Calabria on the opponent's court 56-48. Ancona managed to beat Irpino in a home game 58-54.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 30 points and 12 rebounds by Giulia Maffenini of Cremona.



Group North
Milano - Crema 66-52

The game between Top Four teams took place in Milano. Third ranked host Milano (12-4) defeated one of their biggest challengers TEC-MAR Crema (11-5) 66-52. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. TEC-MAR Crema was better in fourth quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Milano dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to TEC-MAR Crema's 20. Milano forced 30 TEC-MAR Crema turnovers. The winners were led by guard Silvia Gottardi (176-78) who scored that evening 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Susanna Stabile (178-80) supported her with 13 points and 6 steals. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Polish forward Magdalena Losi (173-80, agency: Promotex) did not help to save the game for TEC-MAR Crema. Very expected game when 9th ranked San Salvatore (7-9) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Udine (10-6) 52-41 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Udine dominated on the defensive end, holding San Salvatore to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 22 San Salvatore turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Chiara Rossi (170-88) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and forward Arianna Zampieri (183-88) who added 5 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Anna Lussu (163-85) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) scored 13 points. Udine have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position in North with 10-6 record. Newly promoted San Salvatore dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. Marghera was better in third quarter 18-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Marghera to just 5 points in second quarter. San Martino forced 32 Marghera turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Martina Sandri (185-88) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 14 rebounds and Slovenian forward Lea Jagodic (182-91) who added 8 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Valmadrera and 10th ranked Muggia had identical 5-10 record. But Muggia was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Valmadrera 79-65 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Valmadrera led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Valmadrera had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Morena Capiaghi (177-86) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Silvia Scudiero (182-82) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest.
