Forward Giulia Maffenini (174-F-92, agency: Two Points) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cremona, receiving a Eurobasket.com A2 Player of the Week award for round 16. The 20-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 12 rebounds, while her team Cremona moved-up to the 13th position in the Italian A2. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 13 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Maffenini had a remarkable 52.4% from 2-point range. She turned to be Cremona's top player in her first season with the team. Giulia Maffenini has solid league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.0ppg. Maffenini is in league's top in and averages impressive 3.9spg.
The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old Patrizia De Gianni (191-F-88) of Cagliari V.. De Gianni had a very good evening with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course she lead Cagliari V. to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Biassono (#14, 1-15) 76-48. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in North. But Cagliari V. managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 12th place. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Cagliari V. managed to get this year. De Gianni is one of the most experienced players at Cagliari V. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third on the list of top players last round was another Cagliari V.'s star - forward Giulia Rulli (185-F/C-91). Rulli scored 18 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Cagliari V., helping her team with a 76-48 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Biassono (#14, 1-15). Cagliari V. can only dream about fighting for top spots in North. They have rather bad season and 3-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Rulli she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Rulli has individually a great season in Italy. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.4rpg (2nd best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Elena Ramo' (180-F-94) of Min.Battipaglia - 23 points and 7 rebounds 5. The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
