A.S.D. Latina Basket (Nazionale A) added to their roster 27-year old ex-international power forward Matteo Canavesi (204-97kg-86). He played last season at Biancoblu Basket Bologna (Lega2). In 27 games last year he recorded 8.0ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.3spg. Canavesi ended 2010-11 season at Naturhouse Ferrara (Nazionale B). In 5 games that season he averaged 9.2ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.0spg. But the most of that year he spent at Sutor Montegranaro (SerieA). But in 14 games he averaged just 1.4ppg and 1.3rpg. He helped them to make it to the cup semifinals. Canavesis team made it to the LNB Italian Cup final in 2004. He was also a member of Italian international program for some years. Canavesi played for Italian Senior National Team in 2009 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2002. He represented Italy at the European Championships U20 in Izmir (Turkey) seven years ago. Canavesis team got to the Semifinals and his stats at that event were 8 games: 7.9ppg, 3.5rpg, 2FGP: 45.2%, 3FGP: 33.3%, FT: 52.4%. Canavesi has played previously for four other Italy teams: Cimberio Varese, Tuscany Pistoia, Aget Service Imola and Novara. The scouts decsribe him following way: Undersized to play at center, has good athletic skills and knows how to score and to rebound inside; His future is at the power forward, or even at the 3 position, wher he will take advantage from his goos outside shot.

Acea Virtus Roma held off Trenkwalder to punch their semifinal ticket. The game was mostly controlled by Lottomatica Roma. Trenkwalder RE was better in fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lottomatica Roma forced 19 Trenkwalder RE turnovers and outrebounded them 37-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Trenkwalder RE was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Phil Goss (186-83, college: Drexel) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds. American-Nigerian power forward Gani Lawal (205-88, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Lottomatica Roma players scored in double figures.
