The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Crema. First ranked Umana Reyer faced 4th placed TEC-MAR Crema. Guests from Venezia (16-1) defeated host TEC-MAR Crema (11-6) 68-50. The game was mostly controlled by Umana Reyer. TEC-MAR Crema managed to win second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding TEC-MAR Crema to just 4 points in third quarter. Umana Reyer forced 29 TEC-MAR Crema turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Umana Reyer made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Romanian forward Simina Mandache (185-81) who scored 16 points. Forward Giovanna Pertile (182-92, agency: Players Group) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Polish forward Magdalena Losi (173-80, agency: Promotex) produced 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Umana Reyer have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Newly promoted Umana Reyer maintains first place in North with 16-1 record. TEC-MAR Crema at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Udine. Umana Reyer are looking forward to face league's second-placed San Martino in San Martino di L in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. TEC-MAR Crema will play on the road against Cremona and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Leader Ragusa delivered the fifteenth victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked Viterbo (5-10) 86-40. Guard Virginia Galbiati (173-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. Milica Micovic contributed with 16 points for the winners. Ragusa's coach Antonio Molino felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Giulia Manzotti (176-93) answered with 13 points for Viterbo. Ragusa maintains first place in South with 15-1 record. Viterbo at the other side keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Ragusa will play against Calabria (#11) in Reggio Calabria in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Viterbo will play at home against Ancona and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 66-45 loss to seventh ranked Meccanica NB (9-7) in Siena on Saturday evening. Irene Cigliani stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Coach Maurizio Scanzani's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. Francesca Fabbri responded with 19 points and 5 steals. Meccanica NB moved-up to sixth place in South, which they share with Ancona. Consum.it Siena lost their sixteenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 16 games lost. Meccanica NB will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Consum.it Siena will play against Napoli S.Dike (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Ariano Irpino was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Napoli S.Dike (12-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Irpino (6-10). Napoli S.Dike defeated Irpino 51-37. Louella Tomlinson nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Napoli S.Dike. They maintain third place in South with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader Ragusa, which they share with S. La Spezia. Newly promoted Irpino keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Napoli S.Dike's next round opponent will be Consum.it Siena (#13) at home and are hoping to win another game. Irpino will play against S. La Spezia (#4).
Important game to mention about took place in Salerno. Fifth ranked Min.Battipaglia (10-5) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 9th ranked Salerno (6-10) 61-59 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Kourtney Treffers who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Min.Battipaglia. They maintain fifth place in South with 10-5 record. Salerno lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Min.Battipaglia will face league's second-placed T. La Spezia at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salerno will play against College Italia (#12) in Roma.

Other games of round 17 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
In North Alghero was defeated by Udine in a road game 57-49. Broni beat San Salvatore at home 60-54. Valmadrera lost to Cremona on the opponent's court 52-64. Marghera unfortunately lost to Muggia in a home game 59-65. Biassono was rolled over San Martino on the road 52-91. Cagliari V. was crushed by Milano on its own court 49-69.
In South S. La Spezia smashed College Italia in a road game 67-29. T. La Spezia won against Ancona at home 84-73.
The best stats of 17th round was 27 points and 17 rebounds by Ana Ljubenovic of Muggia.



Group North
Udine - Alghero 57-49

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Alghero's (9-8) road loss to fifth ranked Udine (11-6) 49-57 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 33-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was center Angela Ratti (185-83) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Chiara Rossi (170-88) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) produced 7 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian forward Alejandra Chesta (187-82, agency: Players Group) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Udine. They moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Crema. Loser Alghero keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Udine will face higher ranked Milano (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alghero will play against Marghera in Venezia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Marghera was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (182-88) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!).
