After six months spent as a free agent Stefano Mancinelli (203-PF-83) is getting back on the court. The italian forward didn't extend his contract with Milano last summer and has been training with the team of Imola during last month waiting for the chanche to get on the court again. As per the rumours the palyer was in talks with Sassari since last week but everything changed yesterday as Manuchar Markoishvili left Cantu to join Galatasaray. President Cremascoli, the general manager Bruno Arrigoni and coach Trinchieri had to find a new player to be added to the roster when we are midway in the regular season and there are 8 days remaining to the italian cup final eight. Considering that the team was in need of a player in spot 3 and 4, that the best option possible was adding an italian player, as the roster can't afford other us or EU players without releasing someone, Stefano Mancinelli was the best choice possible. He can play both at 3 and at 4, he is italian and is a top italian level team player for sure. Mancinelli is part of the italian national team since 2005 and is off three good seasons with Milano after having spent 9 seasons at Fortitudo Bologna. The agreement, a contract for this season and the next one, should be officially announced tomorrow

Guard Daniele Grilli (191-G-87) had a great game in the last round for Barcellona, receiving a Eurobasket.com Serie B Player of the Week award for round 24. The 29-year old player was the main contributor (35 points, three rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Maddaloni (#16, 3-21) 86-75. Barcellona is placed at 4th position in their group in Italian Serie B. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Barcellona will need more victories to improve their 17-6 record. In the team's last game Grilli had a remarkable 86.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Barcellona's top player in his first season with the team. Daniele Grilli averages this season 18.0ppg.
The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old Simone Zanotti (208-C/F-92) of Monteroni. Zanotti had a very good evening with a double-double of 32 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Monteroni lost that game 70-75 to slightly higher-ranked Valdiceppo (#14, 7-16). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in Group D. Monteroni keeps 16th position. 21 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Monteroni managed to get this year. Zanotti is a newcomer at Monteroni, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was center Nicolo Ravazzani (200-C-85) of Matera (#6). Ravazzani showcased his all-around game by recording 16 points, nineteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Matera, leading his team to a 95-83 win against the lower-ranked Rimini (#9, 10-12). Matera needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group D. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 9 lost games. Ravazzani has a very solid season. In 19 games in Italy he scored 8.5ppg. He also has 10.4rpg and FGP: 58.4%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Leonardo Battistini (194-G/F-95) of Rimini - 27 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Daniele Toscano (196-SF-93) of Bottegone - 28 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Luca Fontecchio (202-PF-91) of Forli Tigers - 24 points and 12 rebounds 7.
