The most important game in the last round took place in Lucca between second ranked Matera (14-6) and ninth ranked Lucca (11-9) on Wednesday night. Matera was defeated by Lucca on the road 78-93. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-78. Lucca made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Matera turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Davide Parente (188-83) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). The former international forward Walter Santarossa (200-78) contributed with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) replied with 23 points and 5 steals (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for Matera. Lucca moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Agrigento. Matera at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Lucca is looking forward to face league's leader Torino on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Matera will play against Reggio Calabr. in Reggio Calabria and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Torino (17-3) which played road game in Castelletto against 3rd ranked Castelletto (12-8). First ranked Torino managed to get a 14-point victory 74-60. Naturalized Polish power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Claudio Tommasini chipped in 17 points during the contest. At the losing side point guard Alexander Simoncelli (188-86, agency: Interperformances) responded with 12 points and 5 assists. Torino have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-3 record. Castelletto at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. They share the position with Treviglio and Bari. Torino will play against Lucca (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Castelletto will play against Latina Basket (#17) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Agrigento (11-9) and Latina Basket (7-14), which took place in Agrigento. Higher ranked Agrigento lost at home to seventeenth ranked Latina Basket 72-80 on Wednesday. Manuel Carrizo notched 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 9 points and 12 rebounds by Albano Chiarastella did not help to save the game for Agrigento. Agrigento's coach Franco Ciani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Latina Basket maintains seventeenth position with 7-14 record. Agrigento lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Lucca. Latina Basket will meet at home higher ranked Castelletto (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Agrigento will play against Perugia and hope to secure a win.
Another upset was a game between Firenze (8-10) and Naturhouse Ferrara (8-11), which took place in Ferrara. Higher ranked Firenze lost to fourteenth ranked Naturhouse Ferrara in a road game 62-73. Michele Benfatto fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Naturhouse Ferrara moved-up to thirteenth place. Firenze at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Naturhouse Ferrara's next round opponent will be Mazzeo San Severo (#16) on the road.
The game between seventh ranked Treviglio (12-8) and 8th ranked Chieti (10-10) in Treviglio on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Treviglio beat guests from Chieti 92-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chieti. It was a very good performance for Davide Reati who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 rebounds. Treviglio moved-up to third place, which they share with Bari and Castelletto. Loser Chieti dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Treviglio will face Mirandola (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Chieti will play against Recanati (#15).

Other games in round 22 were not that significant. Perugia was beaten by Bari on the road 70-63. Casalpusterlengo won against San Severo on its own court 69-63. Mirandola unfortunately lost to Reggio Calabr. in Reggio Calabria 67-76.
