The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute susprises and upsets. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Round 18 most important game was a victory of Marghera over 7th ranked Alghero 64-57 on Wednesday night. Alghero trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 16-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 57-64 at the end of the game. Marghera dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 7 points in third and fourth quarters. It was a good game for forward Lucia Ferri (182-85) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bulgarian swingman Daniela Georgieva (184-86) contributed with 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Naturalized Argentinian forward Alejandra Chesta (187-82, agency: Players Group) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds for Alghero. Marghera maintains sixth position in North with 10-8 record. Alghero at the other side dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Broni. Marghera are looking forward to face Cremona (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alghero will play against the league's second-placed San Martino (#2) in San Martino di L and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Battipaglia. Second ranked T. La Spezia (14-2) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Min.Battipaglia (10-6) 73-72 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Min.Battipaglia. Point guard Valentina Costa (168-84) scored 17 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Valeria De Pretto chipped in 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was Dutch Kourtney Treffers (186-94) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds. T. La Spezia have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position in South with 14-2 record having five points less than leader Umana Reyer. Min.Battipaglia at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. T. La Spezia will play against Napoli S.Dike (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Min.Battipaglia will play against Viterbo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Umana Reyer (17-1) which hosted in Venezia second-best San Martino (15-3). First ranked Umana Reyer managed to get a 9-point victory 79-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of San Martino. Simina Mandache notched a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort. Umana Reyer's coach Andrea Liberalotto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by Martina Sandri did not help to save the game for San Martino. Umana Reyer have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Newly promoted Umana Reyer maintains first position in North with 17-1 record. Loser San Martino keeps the second place with three games lost. Umana Reyer will meet Biassono (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. San Martino will play against Alghero (#8) and hope to secure a win.
A2 top team - Ragusa (16-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Calabria (3-13) in Reggio Calabria 70-39. The best player for the winners was Virginia Galbiati who scored 12 points and 5 steals. Ragusa's coach Antonio Molino felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ragusa maintains first position in South with 16-1 record. Calabria lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with 13 games lost. Ragusa's next round opponent will be Salerno (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Calabria will play against Consum.it Siena and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 17th consecutive match to third ranked Napoli S.Dike (13-4) 81-35 on Wednesday evening. It was a good game for Louella Tomlinson who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Coach Giovanni Monda's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. Napoli S.Dike have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position in South with 13-4 record having five points less than leader Umana Reyer, which they share with S. La Spezia. Loser Consum.it Siena still closes the standings with 17 games lost. Napoli S.Dike will face league's second-placed T. La Spezia on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Consum.it Siena will play against Calabria (#11) in Reggio Calabria and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18:
In North Crema beat Cremona on the road 57-51. Milano won against Udine on its own court 58-45. Cagliari V. outscored San Salvatore in a road game 68-48. Muggia managed to beat Biassono at home 58-52. Broni defeated Valmadrera on the opponent's court 76-72.
In South Viterbo was beaten by Ancona in a home game 55-57. Salerno won against College Italia on the road 63-51. S. La Spezia outscored Irpino on its own court 64-42.



Group North
Cremona - Crema 51-57

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked TEC-MAR Crema (12-6) beat on the road 12th ranked Cremona (4-14) 57-51 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 28-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Cremona outrebounded TEC-MAR Crema 43-28 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Polish forward Magdalena Losi (173-80, agency: Promotex) who led her team to a victory with 19 points. Power forward Gilda Cerri (185-90) contributed with 8 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Giulia Maffenini (174-92, agency: Two Points) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Benedetta Racchetti (174-92) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cremona. Newly promoted TEC-MAR Crema maintains fourth position in North with 12-6 record. Cremona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth place with 14 games lost. TEC-MAR Crema will face Virtus Cagliari (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cremona will play against Marghera in Venezia.

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Udine (11-7) lost on the road to third ranked Milano (14-4) 58-45 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Udine was better in fourth quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Udine 43-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for the former international forward Manuela Zanon (187-80) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Silvia Gottardi (176-78) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Angela Ratti (185-83) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Chiara Rossi (170-88) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Udine. Milano have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in North with 14-4 record having just three points less than leader Umana Reyer. Loser Udine keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Milano will face Broni (#7) on the road in the next round. Udine will play against Valmadrera.

They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to San Salvatore's 20. Virtus Cagliari forced 24 San Salvatore turnovers. It was a good game for naturalized Argentinian guard Laura Nicolini (174-75) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-14. But Viterbo won second period 10-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for forward Monique Ngo Ndjock (187-85) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Chilean-Spanish forward Valentina Aragonese (173-79, agency: Players Group) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Ancona's coach Luca Piccionne allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Czech center Martina Rejchova (195-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and guard Giulia Bernardini (176-91) added 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Viterbo.
