The game between second ranked Matera (14-7) and eleventh ranked Reggio Calabr. (10-11) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Matera was defeated by Reggio Calabr. in a tough game in Matera 69-77. Matera was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Reggio Calabr., which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Matera helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for point guard Alessandro Piazza (174-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Power forward Marco Ammannato (202-88, agency: Players Group) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Reggio Calabr.'s coach Francesco Ponticiello used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
