Bobby Brown
Very exciting round. It does not happen too often that four games need overtime in just one round. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Top ranked Cimberio Varese (15-3) recorded its third loss on the court of third ranked Montepaschi Siena on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Montepaschi Siena 89-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cimberio Varese. The game was mostly controlled by Montepaschi Siena. Cimberio Varese managed to win third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Montepaschi Siena made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 23 points and 7 assists. The former international point guard Daniel Hackett (200-87, college: USC, agency: Two Points) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Montepaschi Siena's coach Luca Banchi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Bryant Dunston (202-86) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds. Defending champion maintains third position with 13-5 record having just two points less than leader Cimberio VA. Cimberio Varese at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Montepaschi Siena are looking forward to face VL Pesaro (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cimberio Varese will play against SAIE3 BO (#11) in Bologna and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Banco di Sard. (14-4) against fifth ranked Cantu (12-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Banco di Sard. was defeated by Cantu in Cantu 94-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Banco di Sard.. It was a good game for the former international Pietro Aradori (195-88) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Jonathan Tabu contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American point guard Travis Diener (184-82, college: Marquette) replied with 21 points and 7 assists for Banco di Sard.Cantu moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Acea Virtus RM. Banco di Sard. at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Cantu will play against Enel Brindisi (#8) on the road in the next round. Banco di Sard. will play against Umana Venezia (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Angelico Biella managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the eight-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they edged tenth-ranked Juvecaserta in Caserta 81-80. Kevinn Pinkney scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Jeleel Akindele with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Angelico Biella (4-14) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Sidigas AV and Pesaro. Loser Juvecaserta keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Angelico Biella will meet at home higher ranked Trenkwalder RE (#9) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Juvecaserta will play against Sutor Montegranaro and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Reggio Emilia. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Lottomatica Roma (12-6) to ninth ranked Trenkwalder RE (9-9) 96-93 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lottomatica Roma. Donnel Taylor notched 30 points, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort. Trenkwalder RE moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Enel Brindisi. Lottomatica Roma at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Trenkwalder RE's next round opponent will be Angelico Biella (#14) on the road where they are favorite. Lottomatica Roma will play against Armani Milano (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Fourteenth-ranked VL Pesaro (4-14) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Umana Venezia (10-8) on Sunday. Umana Venezia managed to secure only three-point victory 71-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was Yakhouba Diawara who scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
