There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in A2. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from La Spezia: S. La Spezia (#3) and T. La Spezia (#2). S. La Spezia (14-4) won against visiting T. La Spezia (15-3) 54-48. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of T. La Spezia. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. S. La Spezia forced 20 T. La Spezia turnovers. Forward Marcella Filippi (186-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points. Guard Alice Quarta (175-91) contributed with 9 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for T. La Spezia. S. La Spezia have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position in South with 14-4 record having seven points less than leader Umana Reyer. T. La Spezia at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A2 top team - Ragusa (18-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Irpino (7-12) in Ariano Irpino 59-40. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international guard Paola Mauriello (185-81) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Peli Papamichail who added 8 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Guard Nunzia Paparo (165-77) responded with 5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Irpino's coach Claudio Agresti rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ragusa have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South with 18-1 record. Newly promoted Irpino dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A2 top team - Umana Reyer (19-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked San Salvatore (8-12) 65-57. The winners were led by Simina Mandache who scored that evening 23 points and 9 rebounds. Umana Reyer's coach Andrea Liberalotto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds by Stefania D'Arenzo did not help to save the game for San Salvatore. Umana Reyer have an impressive 15-game winning streak. Newly promoted Umana Reyer maintains first position in North with 19-1 record. San Salvatore at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Umana Reyer will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Salvatore will play against Milano (#3) and hope to secure a win.
Bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 19th consecutive match to ninth ranked Salerno (8-11) 81-49. The best player for the winners was Raffaella Potolicchio who scored 19 points and 4 assists. Salerno moved-up to eighth place in South. Consum.it Siena at the other side still closes the standings with 19 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Venezia. Twelfth ranked Virtus Cagliari (6-14) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Marghera (11-9) 70-69 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Marghera. They moved-up to eleventh place in North, which they share with Valmadrera. Loser Marghera keeps the sixth position with nine games lost.
