26-year old guard Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-G-86, agency: Players Group) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Matera and receives a Eurobasket.com Nazionale A Player of the Week award for round 25. He had the game-high 40 points adding two rebounds and four assists for Matera in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Mirandola (#13, 10-13) 91-87. Matera maintains the 2nd position in Italian Nazionale A. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Matera will need more victories to improve their 15-8 record. In the team's last game Vico had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Matera, through which he has constantly improved. Carlos Sebastian Vico averages this season 14.2ppg.
Second best performed player last round was Ousmane Gueye (188-G-82) of San Severo. He is naturalized Senegalese guard in his first season at San Severo. In the last game Gueye recorded impressive 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as San Severo lost that game 67-72 to the higher-ranked Lucca (#8, 12-11). This loss caused San Severo to drop to 17th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-15 record. Gueye is a newcomer at San Severo and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#6).
Third place about best performers goes to center Emanuele Rossi (208-C-82) of Chieti (#11). Rossi scored 24 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Rossi's great performance Chieti lost 83-90 to the higher-ranked Agrigento (#3, 13-10). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Chieti ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Rossi could help Chieti to bring them higher in the standings. Rossi has a great season in Italy. After 23 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (#1 in league). He also has 2.5spg, 1.1bpg and FGP: 53.1%.
