Alessandro
Gentile
Umana Venezia (#8) forced the game against Armani Milano (#6) into an overtime, but lost by nine points 88-97 on Sunday night. The game took place in Venezia. But the guests from Milano were better at the end. Worth to mention a great performance of Alessandro Gentile who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Armani Milano (14-8) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cantu and Montepaschi. Umana Venezia at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Armani Milano will face Vanoli Cremona (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Umana Venezia will play against Lottomatica Roma.

Other games in round 22 were not that significant. JuveCaserta beat Oknoplast BO on the road 72-70. Montepaschi was destroyed by Acea Virtus RM on its own court 70-94. Cantu managed to outperform Vanoli CR in a road game 87-78. Trenkwalder RE managed to beat Sutor MGR at home 100-83. Banco di Sard. was defeated by Sidigas AV on the opponent's court 86-78. Cimberio VA beat Angelico BI in a home game 92-82. Enel Brindisi lost to Pesaro on the road 90-94.
The most impressive performance of 22th round was 28 points and 10 rebounds by Kevinn Pinkney of Angelico BI.

Oknoplast BO - JuveCaserta 70-72

No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Juvecaserta (9-13) edged 12th ranked Oknoplast BO (7-14) in Bologna 72-70 on Monday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Oknoplast BO won second period 18-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 15 points. point guard Stefano Gentile (191-89) contributed with 13 points for the winners. The former international Angelo Gigli (209-83) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Kenny Hasbrouck (191-86, college: Siena) added 11 points and 6 assists in the effort for Oknoplast BO. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Juvecaserta maintains tenth position with 9-13 record. Oknoplast BO lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Juvecaserta will face higher ranked Montepaschi Siena (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Montepaschi - Acea Virtus RM 70-94

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Lottomatica Roma and one of their biggest challengers Montepaschi Siena had identical 14-7 record. But Montepaschi Siena was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Roma 94-70 on Monday night. The game without a history. Lottomatica Roma led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lottomatica Roma outrebounded Montepaschi Siena 42-22 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jordan Taylor (185-89, college: Wisconsin) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American-Nigerian power forward Gani Lawal (205-88, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lottomatica Roma have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Defending champion Montepaschi Siena dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Lottomatica Roma will face Umana Venezia (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Montepaschi Siena will play against Juvecaserta (#10) in Caserta.
