The Regular Season in Serie A2 is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 4 rounds. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Twelfth-ranked Bolzano (5-17) made lots of trouble for second ranked Empoli (19-3) on Saturday. The visitors from Empoli managed to secure only three-point victory 57-54. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Empoli dominated on the defensive end, holding Bolzano to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Forward Guia Sesoldi (180-87) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Croatian power forward Ivona Matic (189-86) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Empoli have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-3 record behind leader Vicenza. Bolzano lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Empoli are looking forward to face league's leader Sesto SG in Sesto San Giovanni in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bolzano will play on the road against Costa Masnaga (#6) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Orvieto (15-6) against tenth ranked Virtus Cagliari (8-14) on Saturday night. Visiting Orvieto was defeated by Virtus Cagliari in Cagliari 68-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Orvieto. Worth to mention a great performance of British-Portuguese center Lavinia Da-Silva (187-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds. Elisa Templari contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Giulia Manzotti (176-93) replied with 19 points for Orvieto. Virtus Cagliari moved-up to ninth place, which they share with San Salvatore. Orvieto at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Virtus Cagliari will play against Alghero (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Orvieto will play against Milano (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Marghera (15-5) against fifth ranked Ferrara (14-6) on Sunday night. Host Marghera was defeated by Ferrara in a tough game in Venezia 75-80. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Marghera. Nene Diene scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Macarena Rosset responded with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Marghera's coach Francesco Iurlaro rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferrara moved-up to fourth place. Loser Marghera keeps the third position with five games lost. Ferrara will meet at home Civitanova (#6) in the next round. Marghera will play against Palermo and hope to secure a win.
Leader Sesto SG delivered the twentieth victory. This time they crushed 8th ranked Albino (9-13) 74-27. Virginia Galbiati notched 19 points to lead the effort. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sesto SG have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-2 record. Albino lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 13 games lost. Sesto SG's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Empoli on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Albino will play against Carugate (#11) in Corugate and hope to win that game.
The game in San Martino di L was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Udine Delser (14-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Fanola SML (8-13). Udine Delser did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 64-47 on Saturday. Ejay Ofomata fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Udine Delser have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Udine Delser maintains fifth position with 14-7 record. Fanola SML lost sixth consecutive game. Fanola SML at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Udine Delser will face Viterbo (#9) on the road in the next round.

Rest of the games of round 22 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Carugate was defeated by Milano in a road game 64-49. Cagliari CUS was smashed by Costa Masnaga at home 48-70. Scrivia won against Alghero on the opponent's court 63-52. San Salvatore unfortunately lost to Crema in a home game 70-73. Palermo recorded a loss to Civitanova on the road 54-62. Stabia was crushed by Pordenone on its own court 64-83. Vicenza beat Alpo VF in a road game 77-63. Salerno lost to Viterbo at home 56-68. Salerno was outscored by Udine Delser on the opponent's court 46-77.
The best stats of 22th round was 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by Debora Vicenzotti of Udine Delser.

Group A
Milano - Carugate 64-49

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Carugate (6-16) was defeated on the road by third ranked Milano (16-6) 64-49 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Carugate was better in third quarter 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Milano forced 20 Carugate turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Stefania Guarneri (182-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Five Milano players scored in double figures. Power forward Cecilia Albano (180-96) produced 13 points and the former international forward Emily Correal (190-90, college: William & Mary, agency: Interperformances) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Carugate's coach Paolo Re tested eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Milano have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-6 record having four points less than leader Vicenza. Loser Carugate keeps the eleventh place with 16 games lost. Milano will face Orvieto (#4) on the road in the next round. Carugate will play against Albino (#8) and hope to win that game.

Scrivia dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 20. Center Clara Salvini (180-92) fired 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Finnish forward Krista Gross (183-90, college: N.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds.
