      follow us on Facebook Twitter

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Kosovans who are currently playing abroad.

    Justin Doellman
    Justin Doellman
#1. This week's number one is an international forward Justin Doellman (205-85, agency: BeoBasket, college: Xavier, currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help FC Barcelona (8-13) in their last game. Despite Doellman's good performance the 11th-placed FC Barcelona (8-13) lost 85-89 on the road to the higher-ranked (#10) Zalgiris in the group A of Euroleague. He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 23 minutes on the court. It was FC Barcelona's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Doellman averages: 7.8ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 40.9%, 3FGP: 53.6%(15-28) and FT: 94.7%(18-19) in 15 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Doellman is currently a member of the Kosovan senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Kosovo.

    Scott Bamforth
    Scott Bamforth
#2. Second place goes to an international swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, also represented by BeoBasket, college: Weber St., currently plays in Spain). Bamforth was the major contributor in a RETAbet BB's surprising victory against the third-ranked FC Barcelona (13-5) 76-68 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday. He scored 13 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line). RETAbet Bilbao Basket (8-10) is placed tenth in the Liga Endesa. It's Bamforth's first season with the team. Bamforth has relatively good stats this year: 14.2ppg, 3.5rpg, 3.2apg, 2FGP: 57.9%(44-76), 3FGP: 36.5% and FT: 91.9%(68-74). He is a naturalized American. Bamforth is in the roster of the Kosovan senior national team. Apparently he has never played in Kosovo.

    Gezim Morina
    Gezim Morina
#3. The Kosovan player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Gezim Morina (203-92, currently plays in Slovenia). Morina contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Portoroz (1-15) crushing them 94-61 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM on Friday night. He scored 8 points. Sixt Primorska (9-8) is placed seventh in the Liga Nova KBM. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. Morina's overall stats this season are: 7.4ppg, 3.2rpg, 2FGP: 54.1%, 3FGP: 22.2% and FT: 80.8%. He has a dual citizenship: Kosovan and Slovenian. Morina played for the Kosovan national team six years ago.

    Jaren Sina
    Jaren Sina
#4. Guard Jaren Sina (188-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the G.Washington in their game against the Virginia Commonwealth University (1-1) in the NCAA. He recorded 8 points and added 4 passes. The G.Washington was edged 54-53 in Richmond by the Virginia Commonwealth University. Sina's overall stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 2.8rpg and 3.0apg. He is a naturalized American. Sina is also Kosovan national team player. Interesting that he has never played in Kosovo.

    Arif Mehmetaj
    Arif Mehmetaj
#5. International forward Arif Mehmetaj (201-94, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to a Daemen College's victory against the New York Institute of Technology (2-9) 80-72 in the NCAA2 on Wednesday night. Mehmetaj scored 10 points in only 14 minutes. The Daemen College has a solid 9-4 record this season. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA2 Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mehmetaj has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.5ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.5apg in 19 games. Mehmetaj is a naturalized American. He plays currently for the Kosovan national team. However Mehmetaj has never played in Kosovo.

The list of other players, who all have Kosovan passport but never been selected to any of Kosovan national teams:

#1. Erjon Kastrati (198-SG-94, currently plays in Slovenia) was the major contributor in Krka's victory against the eighth-ranked Tajfun (8-9) crushing them 67-37 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM on Wednesday night. Kastrati scored 12 points in 25 minutes. Krka Novo Mesto (15-4) is placed first in the Liga Nova KBM. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. Kastrati is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Krka's roster. This season his overall stats are: 9.4ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3apg in 16 games he played so far. Kastrati has a dual citizenship: Kosovan and Albanian.

#2. Shawn Jones (203-PF-92, college: Middle Tenn.St., currently plays in EuroCup) managed to help Hapoel Jerusalem to win against the closely-ranked Lietuvos rytas (3-3) 84-77 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Hapoel Jerusalem (5-1) is placed first in the Eurocup. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. Jones' overall stats this season are: 5.5ppg and 3.6rpg. He is a naturalized American. Interesting that Jones has never played in Kosovo.

#3. Kenan Sipahi (197-PG-95, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Usak Sportlif (5-12) 84-66 in the Turkish BSL last Saturday. He scored only 3 points in 9 minutes on the court. Besiktas Sompo Japan Istanbul (13-4) is placed third in the BSL. This year Sipahi's overall stats are: 3.3ppg, 1.3rpg and 2.1apg in 15 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Kosovan and Turkish.

#4. Lis Shoshi (211-F-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) led UALR to a victory against the Appalachian State University (4-5) 69-62 in the NCAA in Monday night's game.
