    Scott Bamforth selected the top Kosovan playing abroad in last week's games - Mar 23, 2017

    We bring you last week's top performances from Kosovans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.


    Scott Bamforth

       #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, agency: BeoBasket, college: Weber St., currently plays in Spain). He could not help RETAbet BB (10-12) in their last game. Despite Bamforth's very good performance RETAbet BB lost 71-82 at home to the lower-ranked (#12) UCAM Murcia. He was the top scorer with 16 points. Bamforth also added 5 rebounds in 28 minutes on the court. Bamforth has relatively good stats this year: 14.5ppg, 3.4rpg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 58.1%(54-93), 3FGP: 39.2% and FT: 90.3%(84-93) in 23 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Bamforth is currently a member of the Kosovan senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Kosovo.

       #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Gezim Morina (203-92, currently plays in Slovenia). He was the major contributor in a KK Primorska's victory against the fifth-ranked LTH Castings (3-8) 91-72 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM on Wednesday night. Morina recorded 16 points and added 4 assists in a mere 19 minutes. Sixt Primorska (10-1) is placed first in Places 7-12 group. This year Morina averages: 7.4ppg, 2.9rpg, 2FGP: 54.1%, 3FGP: 28.9% and FT: 78.8% in 23 games. He has a dual citizenship: Kosovan and Slovenian. Morina played for the Kosovan national team in 2011.

       #3. The Kosovan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international shooting guard Dardan Berisha (191-88, currently plays in Italy). Berisha was not able to help Juvecaserta (9-14) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Juvecaserta was edged 74-71 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#4) Betaland Cdo. Berisha was the top scorer with 16 points. He also added 3 steals in 27 minutes. It was Juvecaserta's fifth consecutive loss in a row. This year Berisha's overall stats are: 9.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.5apg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 42.9%, 3FGP: 42.9% in four games. He is another player who holds two passports: Kosovan and Polish. Ex-KB Peja player is also a member of the Kosovan senior national team.

       #4. Guard Jaren Sina (188-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to G.Washington's surprising victory against the The University of Toledo (12-6) 73-69 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 on Wednesday night. Sina recorded 8 points and added 3 assists. The The George Washington University has 10-8 conference record this season. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. Sina's total stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.2apg. He is a naturalized American. Sina is also Kosovan national team player. Apparently he has never played in Kosovo.

       #1. Shawn Jones (203-PF-92, college: Middle Tenn.St., currently plays in Israel) led Hapoel Jerusalem to a victory against the closely-ranked Ironi Nahariya (10-13) 91-80 in the Israeli Winner League last Sunday. Jones scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Hapoel Jerusalem (13-10) is placed fifth in the Winner League. This season Jones averages: 5.0ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.3bpg. He is a naturalized American. Apparently Jones has never played in Kosovo.

       #2. Erjon Kastrati (198-SG-94, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Helios (0-1) 76-59 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM in Wednesday night's game. He recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Krka Novo Mesto (1-0) is placed first in Places 1-6 group. It's Kastrati's fifth season with the team. Kastrati's overall stats this year are: 9.0ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.4apg. He has a dual citizenship: Kosovan and Albanian.

    Slovakia narrowly edges Kosovo 75-73 in a friendly game. The latter grabbed a 24-18 lead at the end of the first period, while Slovakia replied with a 24-14 surge in the second frame. Kosovo again posted an 18-16 rally in the third period to reduce to 2 points, while both teams scored 17 points in the last stanza for the final result.     Kosova beat Slovakia in friendly - 4 days ago
    Kosova national team has managed to beat Slovakia in a unofficial friendly match played last night at Bratislava. The national team has reached first victory on Brad Greenberg (agency: Three Eye Sports )'s era, after beating narrowly 69-60 the Slovaks. Dardan Berisha (191-SG-88), the new captain of national team, has scored 18 points and managed to assist 7 times to his teammates in this victory.     Besiktas keep Sipahi for another season - 5 days ago
    Besiktas Sompo Japan Istanbul (BSL) re-signed 22-year old Turk international point guard Kenan Sipahi (197-85kg-95). He has a double citizenship as he also holds Kosovan passport. Sipahi played there last season. In 36 BSL games he averaged 4.3ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.9apg. He helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team.
