Siim-Sander Vene (203-F-90) is another newcomer in VEF Riga. Shortly after inking a deal with Donatas Zavackas (203-F-80, college: Pittsburgh) the Latvian powerhouse announced Siim-Sander Vene. The Estonian forward started the season in Lithuania. The youngster played for Baltai Kaunas. He averaged 8.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game in LKL. He played for EnBW Ludwigsburg. Donatas Zavackas tallied 11.6 points, 5.5 rebounds per game in Bundesliga. The Baltic State lost twice in Turkey and dropped to 0-4 record in Group A. Latvia U16 first lost to Turkey U16 and then was defeated by Serbia U16.
In Day 3 Turkey U16 rolled over Latvia U16 94:69. A tough first quarter brought 23-22 in the game, while the hosts added 27-22 for 6-point advantage at the halftime. Moreover Serbia added 22-18 in the third quarter and never looked behind after. Nikola Pavlovic top-scored for the winners with 27 points and Ivan Daskalovic (199-SG-96) posted 18. Rudolfs Stradnieks (202-C-96) delivered 18 points for the Baltic side and Rauls Avenitis notched 14.
