The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

Top ranked Valmiera (12-8) recorded its eighth loss at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked Latvijas Universitate (9-9) 69-68. Valmiera was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Valmiera outrebounded Latvijas Universitate 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. Guard Zanis Peiners (203-90, agency: Interperformances) fired 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Kristaps Dargais (195-90) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Jai Lucas (177, college: Texas) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Latvijas Universitate moved-up to fifth place. Valmiera at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. Latvijas Universitate's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena U18.

Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Jahmar Young contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Armands Ginters (193-95) answered with 14 points for U18. U18's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Ventspils (11-0) have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain second place with a perfect record of 11 victories in a row behind leader Valmiera. Newly promoted U18 still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Ventspils will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. U18's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Riga Latvijas Universitate.

It was a great evening for Ervins Jonats who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side Karlis Lasmanis responded with 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Jurmala maintains eighth place with 6-13 record. U18 lost their eleventh game in a row. U18 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Jurmala will meet at home higher ranked Latvijas Universitate (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. U18's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Riga Latvijas Universitate.
The game in Turiba supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Liepaja (10-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Turiba (7-12). Liepaja smashed Turiba 81-59. It was an exceptional evening for Janis Timma who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liepaja maintains third place with 10-8 record having 2 victories less than leader Valmiera. Turiba at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Liepaja's next round opponent will be Jelgava (#6) at home. Turiba will play against the league's leader Valmiera.

In the last game of round 19 Ventspils crushed Jelgava in a road game 93-61.


Turiba - Liepaja 59-81

The game in Turiba supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Liepaja (10-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Turiba (7-12). Liepaja smashed Turiba 81-59. It looked good early as Turiba took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Liepaja had a 19-15 second period charge getting the lead and Turiba was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-81. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Janis Timma (201-92, agency: FCM) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Martins Kravcenko (192-85) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Liepaja players scored in double figures. Center Roberts Mednis (204-89) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Matiss Rudmiezis (193-91) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Turiba in the defeat.
