The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Valmiera (12-9) on the court of seventh ranked Turiba on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Turiba 73-68. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 40-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Turiba forced 23 Valmiera turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Valmiera helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Mikus Sokolovs (194-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. Guard Janis Antrops (193-91, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Turiba's coach used entire bench in such tough game. The former international forward Janis Porzingis (201-82, agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for Valmiera. Turiba maintains seventh position with 8-12 record. Valmiera at the other side still keeps top place with nine games lost. Turiba are looking forward to face Jurmala (#8) at home in the next round. Valmiera will play against Liepaja (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ervins Jonats (199-91) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 16 rebounds and Davis Coders who added 18 points during the contest. Guard Kristaps Dargais (195-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Latvijas Universitate's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jurmala have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Jurmala maintains eighth position with 7-13 record. Latvijas Universitate at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Jurmala will play against higher ranked Jelgava (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Latvijas Universitate will play against Jelgava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Liepaja will meet at home league's leader Valmiera in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jelgava will play against Jurmala (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game between third ranked Liepaja (11-8) and 6th ranked Jelgava (9-12) in Liepaja on Tuesday ended with biggest points difference. Liepaja outscored guests from Jelgava 91-60. The game without a history. Liepaja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Liepaja outrebounded Jelgava 37-22 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Arturs Bricis (193-92) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and guard Martins Kravcenko (192-85) supported him with 13 points and 9 assists. Four Liepaja players scored in double figures. Even 17 points by swingman Edgars Krumins (194-86) did not help to save the game for Jelgava. Center Roberts Mednis (205-C-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for Gulbenes Buki (they play in Places 1-1), receiving a Eurobasket.com LBL2 Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage). The 27-year old player was the main contributor (30 points, eight rebounds and four assists) to as his team Gulbenes Buki maintains the 10th position in Latvian LBL2. LBL2 Round 6 (Second Stage): RSU is defeated by Marupe in a derby game - 3 days ago
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: Marupe (#5) and RSU (#5). RSU was defeated at home 54-69 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Marupe. RSU managed to win second period 18-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aleksejevs' double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 3 days ago
31-year old center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-C-85) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Jekabpils and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18. He had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed BK Ogre (#8, 6-10) with 18-point margin 87-69. Jekabpils maintains the 4th position in Latvian league.
