The game without a history. VEF Riga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Latvijas Universitate's 32 and made 28-of-35 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. VEF Riga forced 23 Latvijas Universitate turnovers. It was a great shooting night for VEF Riga especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Latvijas Universitate's players. Latvijas Universitate was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Sandis Valters (193-78) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and American guard Curtis Millage (185-81, college: Arizona St.) chipped in 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five VEF Riga players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Zanis Peiners (203-90, agency: Interperformances) responded with 24 points and forward Martins Dargis (199-91) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

The guests trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 28-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Liepaja made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Ventspils turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Ryzhov Stanislav) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds. Center Toms Leiteris (210-90) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Todd Abernethy (185-84, college: Mississippi) answered with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Ronalds Zakis (207-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Ventspils. Ventspils' coach Gundars Vetra tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.

The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games, games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory.
