Lauma Reke's double-double lands her Player of the Week award among Latvians playing currently abroad - May 4, 2012

   #1. This week's number one is former University international power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's). She was the major contributor in Orvieto's victory against the fourth-ranked S. La Spezia (18-8) crushing them 63-42 in the Italian A2 (12th division) in Wednesday night's game. Reke had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds in 33 minutes on the court. Ceprini Costruzioni Orvieto (18-8) is placed fifth in South group. It's Reke's first season with the team. This year she averages: 9.8ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 42.0%, 3FGP: 27.9% and FT: 76.0% in the 26 games she played so far. Reke played for the Latvian university national team five years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Aija Putnina (192-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas). She contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Kibirkstis-Tiche (18-10) crushing them 94-65 in the Lithuanian LMKL last Friday. Putnina scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. VICI Aistes Kaunas (28-0) is placed first in the LMKL. So far her team won all games in the Finals. Putnina's overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 6.4rpg, 2FGP: 46.4%, 3FGP: 32.8% and FT: 80.7%. She is in the roster of the Latvian senior national team.

   #3. The Latvian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Dace Brumermane (187-81, also represented by Josep and Nicolas). Brumermane led Dunkerque to a victory over the closely-ranked SIG (9-17) 69-61 in the French LF2 (12th division) on Saturday night. She was MVP of the game. Brumermane scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 36 minutes. Dunkerque Malo Basket Club (11-15) is placed ninth in the LF2. The Regular Season already ended. Brumermane is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fifth year in Dunkerque's roster. She is currently first on the list of top scorers with 19.9ppg. This year Brumermane's other stats are: 8.4rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 46.4%, 3FGP: 29.4% and FT: 77.3% in the 19 games. She played for the Latvian national team eleven years ago.

   #4. Center Ieva Kulite (191-88), who plays in the German DBBL could not help Wildcats Wolfenbuettel (16-6) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Kulite's good performance the league leader Wildcats Wolfenbuettel was defeated 93-84 on the road by the lower-ranked SV Halle Lions (#7). She scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Kulite's overall stats this season are: 7.3ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.4apg. She used to play for the Latvian U18 national team back in 2006.

   #5. Former University international forward Dita Liepkalne (185-87, college: Hawaii) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Arxil Pontevedra (9-17) 70-52 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) last Saturday. Liepkalne scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. Thetrend Social Cortegada (21-5) is placed third in Group A. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. This year Liepkalne's overall stats are: 7.8ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.6apg in the 26 games. She used to play for the Latvian university national team five years ago.

   #6. Forward Zane Jakobsone (180-85, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, college: Houston) faced previously mentioned Dita Liepkalne in the Spanish LF2 last game. Jakobsone, who plays in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) was not able to help Arxil Pontevedra (9-17) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her good performance the tenth-placed Arxil Pontevedra was badly defeated 70-52 in Vilagarcia Arousa by the much higher-ranked Cortegada (#3) in the Group A. Jakobsone was the second best scorer with 11 points. The Regular Season already ended. Jakobsone has relatively good stats this season: 12.7ppg and 4.7rpg. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Latvian National Team roster.

   #7. International point guard Rima Valentiene (170-78) is a teammate of previously mentioned Aija Putnina and both played together in the last Lithuanian LMKL game. Valentiene managed to help VICI Aistes Kaunas in a victory against the closely-ranked Kibirkstis-Tiche (18-10) crushing them 94-65. She scored only 3 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 11 minutes. This year Valentiene's total stats are: 4.2ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.3spg in the 27 games. She is also Latvian national team player.

   #8. Guard Zane Eglite (169-84) faced previously mentioned Lauma Reke in the Italian A2 last game. Eglite was not able to secure a victory for S. La Spezia (18-8) in their game against Orvieto (18-8). She was the second best scorer with 8 points. S. La Spezia (#4) was crushed 63-42 at home by the lower-ranked Orvieto (#5) in the South group. Eglite has averaged so far 6.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.8spg. She plays currently for the Latvian national team.

   #9. International forward Ieva Veinberga (183-84) contributed to Udine's victory against the second-ranked Meccanica NB (23-5) 61-50 in the Italian A2 (12th division) on Sunday night. Veinberga recorded 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only 14 minutes. Delser Udine (14-12) is placed sixth in North group. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Veinberga has relatively solid stats: 12.0ppg, 7.1rpg and 1.8spg in the 27 games. She is also in the roster of the Latvian national team.

   #10. Center Ieva Kublina (193-82, college: Virginia Tech) contributed to Bourges' victory against the closely-ranked Lattes Montpellier (21-5) 59-47 in the French LFB in Saturday night's game. Kublina recorded only 2 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Cercle Jean Mace Bourges (22-4) is placed first in the LFB. It was her team's 16th consecutive victory in a row. Kublina has averaged so far 4.1ppg and 4.7rpg. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Latvian National Team roster.

   #11. International forward Gunta Basko (181-80, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, college: Siena) couldn't help Dynamo Kursk in their game against Nadezhda Orenburg in the Russian PBL. Basko cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. She scored only 2 points in 7 minutes on the court. Her team lost 65-79. Basko has averaged so far 3.6ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.1spg in the 12 games. She plays currently for the Latvian national team.

   #12. International swingman Aija Veiksane (186-86, college: Rhode Island) couldn't help the league outsider Alvargomez Guadalajara in their game against Aros Leon in the Spanish LF2 (12th division). Veiksane scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Her team was defeated 61-57. Veiksane has averaged so far 6.7ppg and 3.7rpg. She is also in the roster of the Latvian national team.

Universitatea CSM Oradea (Liga I) agreed terms with 27-year old American ex-international forward Kayla Mobley (180-90, college: Clayton & State). She played most recently at KK Tallinna Ulikool in Latvian LSBL. In two games she had 10.0ppg, 12.0rpg, 1.5apg, 1.5spg and 1.0bpg in 2015-16 season. She played in the final of Estonian Meistriliiga. Former international Forward Linda Rubene (189-F-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Liepajas Pap. and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2.
