The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games.

LBL round 12 caused change at the leadership position. Third defeat of league's leader Valmiera (6-3) against seventh ranked Barons kvartals (4-5) 75-68 was the most important game of the last round. The hosts trailed by 13 points after three quarters before their 31-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Barons kvartals dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Valmiera's 32. It was a good game for swingman Salvis Metra (195-84) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Portuguese forward Maris Gulbis (202-85, agency: Players Group) contributed with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Janis Berzins (202-93, agency: Players Group) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for Valmiera. Barons kvartals moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Jelgava. Valmiera at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by LU. Valmiera will play next round against Jelgava trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Barons kvartals will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Jekabpils on the road.
Undefeated VEF Riga (5-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Ventspils (5-1) 80-74. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of VEF Riga. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Janis Timma (201-92, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds and Donald Sims who added 19 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Ventspils moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated VEF Riga. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A very close game took place in between Jekabpils and Jelgava. Eighth ranked Jekabpils (4-6) got a very close home victory over 6th ranked Jelgava (4-5). Jekabpils managed to escape with a 1-point win 104-103 on Sunday evening. The winners were led by Todd O'Brien who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by Kristaps Kanbergs did not help to save the game for Jelgava. Newly promoted Jekabpils maintains eighth position with 4-6 record. Loser Jelgava keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Barons kvartals. Jekabpils will meet bottom-ranked U18 (#11) in the next round. Jelgava will play against the league's second-placed Valmiera (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
The game in Liepaja was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Jurmala (6-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Liepaja (3-6). Jurmala defeated Liepaja 97-86. The best player for the winners was Ken Brown who scored 27 points and 5 assists. Liepaja's coach Guntis Endzels rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jurmala moved-up to third place. Liepaja lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Jurmala's next round opponent will be Turiba (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game.
The game between 10th ranked Turiba (3-7) and second ranked Latvijas Universitate (7-4) in Turiba on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Riga outscored Turiba 100-54. It was a good game for Kristaps Dargais who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Latvijas Universitate keeps a position of league leader. Loser Turiba keeps the tenth place with seven games lost. Latvijas Universitate will have a break next round. Turiba will play at home against Jurmala (#3).



Jekabpils - Jelgava 104-103

A very close game took place in between Jekabpils and Jelgava. Eighth ranked Jekabpils (4-6) got a very close home victory over 6th ranked Jelgava (4-5). Jekabpils managed to escape with a 1-point win 104-103 on Sunday evening. Jelgava trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 35-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 103-104 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Jelgava 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Jekabpils looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import forward P.J. Hill jr. (182-87, college: Ohio St.) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Hill jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by guard Kristaps Kanbergs (190-88) did not help to save the game for Jelgava. Guard Sandis Silavs (195-88) added 20 points and 7 assists. Four Jekabpils and five Jelgava players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Jekabpils maintains eighth position with 4-6 record. Loser Jelgava keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Barons kvartals. Jekabpils will meet bottom-ranked U18 (#11) in the next round. Jelgava will play against the league's second-placed Valmiera (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

The game between 10th ranked Turiba (3-7) and second ranked Latvijas Universitate (7-4) in Turiba on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Riga outscored Turiba 100-54. The game without a history. Latvijas Universitate led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Turiba's 28. Latvijas Universitate forced 25 Turiba turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for guard Kristaps Dargais (198-90) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Marcis Vitols (184-92) contributed with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Latvijas Universitate players scored in double figures. Forward Matiss Rudmiezis (190-91) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Mikus Sokolovs (195-89) added 10 points in the effort for Turiba. Liepaja - Jurmala 86-97

The game in Liepaja was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Jurmala (6-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Liepaja (3-6). Jurmala defeated Liepaja 97-86. It looked good early as Liepaja took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Jurmala had a 26-19 second period charge getting the lead and Liepaja was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-97. Jurmala made 26-of-33 charity shots (78.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Jurmala especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 69.2 percentage. 29 personal fouls committed by Liepaja helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Ken Brown (185-89, college: Philander Smith) who scored 27 points and 5 assists. Forward Atis Ozols (199-81) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Greg Plater (185-89, college: Long Beach St.) who recorded 21 points and 4 assists and Arturs Bricis (196-92) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Liepaja's coach Guntis Endzels rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jurmala moved-up to third place.
